Her eyes were sparkling and beautiful, her nose pinking in the cool air. His breath caught in his throat as his eyes darted down to her lips. He leaned down toward her.
"Albus!" a loud voice shouted as a hand shook his shoulder repeatedly.
"What" mumbled Albus lazily.
"Guess who's back!"
Albus sat up, blinking blurrily up at his older brother, who stood above him, wearing a giddy smile.
"Hi James." Albus said sleepily, laying back down.
"Breakfast is ready." James said dumping his backpack on the floor. Albus, still annoyed by his sudden rise to consciousness, merely groaned in response. James laughed slightly as he walked out and down the stairs. Albus squeezed his eyes shut, the image of Quinn inches away from him forming again in his mind's eye. He snuggled down in his comforter, drifting slowly back to sleep.
She woke up, bleary-eyed and yawning.
"Come on, breakfast is ready." Lily said, shaking Quinn's shoulder. "I'm going to head on down, make sure you wake up Al before you come. His room is just down the hall." Quinn sat up as Lily rushed out of the room. Sighing she pulled on her outfit that she had laid out, a red sweater and some jeans, then took a glance in Lily's mirror. She looked the same, her long hair was curly and she had dark circles under her eyes. Sighing she put on her glasses, they were simple black frames and though she usually favored contacts she figured that they might be able to hide the fact that this was her first good night sleep in a while. Exiting the room, she spotted another door. She approached it, knocking lightly.
"Albus? Your mom said it's time for breakfast." There was no reply. She creaked the door open slightly, peering around the edge. His room was messy, clothes on the floor, pens scattered all over a desk in the corner, and books tossed around the room. She bent, picking up a textbook that had slid out of a backpack that sat on the floor. NEWT Transfiguration. Weird. Why on earth would Albus have a book for next year. She looked questioningly at his sleeping form. His hair was ruffled and he smiled slightly in his sleep, his comforter tucked under his chin. She walked over to him, shaking his shoulder slightly to wake him up.
"Quinn?" he mumbled.
"Yeah it's me, your mom says it time for breakfast."
"I- I think I- I." His sentence caught in his throat.
"Albus wake up," Quinn said bouncing up and down on the side his bed.
He opened his eyes blearily. He sat up his eyes still blinking slowly. He turned, Quinn was sitting there, on his bed, staring at him. He jumped, his sudden movement making Quinn slide off his bed and onto the floor. He leapt to his feet, extending his hand to her. She sat up, a wide smirk spread across her face as she looked at him. She laughed.
"That was rather rude," Quinn said smiling.
"Sorry about that," Albus said, helping her up.
"It's fine," Quinn said, accepting his hand and getting to her feet. They looked at each other for a long moment. Quinn jerked her hand suddenly out of his as the door burst open.
"What's taking you guys so long," lily said as she entered.
"Coming," Quinn said, hurrying after lily and down the stairs.
