章 123: Meet the Parent (I)

Lianne's heart twisted at the raw emotion which filled his voice as Kai begged her like that. She felt the desperation in his tight hug, the slight shivering on his shoulders, and the hoarseness of his voice.

"Kai," Lianne said softly, her eyes closed as she breathed in his scent being pressed against his chest, "I love you, and I want to be with you forever."

"But 'forever' is impossible," she said, "How can I say I will never leave you when I could die before you?"

Kai stiffened at that.

Is that what she meant?

She had meant it literally? Leaving him because she had left the Earth? 

He couldn't even say the "D" word.

Just the thought of her leaving him forever like that made him pale.

Just like what Benjamin Franklin had said, "...in this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes". Knowing about death and facing Death were two different things.
