I'm finally going to write a preplanned version of this story which isn't going to be messed up by my Gardener instincts like the last one did. For the sake of getting more readers, I'll be posting this as 'Battlefield Restart- An Identity Beyond Self' and replaying 'Amalgam System' with a story just called 'Battlefield Restart'. This won't be strange since I'm using the same character in that as the 'Dark Lord'.
Though the plan will take a little bit more effort before I can complete even the first stage of it. I'm going to let you guys know that this will be one of those dark but not 'Grimdark' worlds. There is going to be Existentialism and Realism but not full on Nihilism. Some parts may evoke that but in the end it will be an action heavy story about a drunk old man who's never sober going against hopeless odds, a little like how Subaru does in Re:Zero.
Since true Grimdark really beats out idealism out of people I'm just straddling the line between darkness and light. The main appeal of this new story will be its action, with the first arc being filled with it due to it being about Simon Rainglow (Stuman) refusing the call to adventure a lot. Each time the hurdles getting bigger until he has no choice but to accept the call or risk a bad end.
Characters from the dropped version of this story will make an appearance and I'll be pretending he failed his whole redemption arc of becoming less of a full on sociopath and more of a likeable person outwardly. His aunt, parents, and etc will be popping up the this first arc though not in the way you'd expect. Since he stays on Earth at first (or at least tries to despite it not working out a lot).
