章 37: Chapter Thirty-Seven: First Residency
The first thing that the two notice as they made their way further is the sudden drop in temperature. The two huddled close together to keep warm while they continue.
"Hina-nee, I'm c-cold."
"Me too."
They both shudder from the piercing cold. They both are only wearing airy dresses so it is a fact that they would be cold.
They soon make it through the cavernous tunnel and arrive at the dungeon of winter. The twins did not expect that entering a cavern would lead to a place like this.
"Hina-nee. where are we?"

Evelyn is still enjoying a nice cup of tea when a notification drew her attention.
"Did those three already make their way back?"
She checks and is astonished to see two exhausted and worn children. She could see the two pitiful twins shivering as they kept themselves warm.
"What are kids doing here? But more importantly..."
Evelyn saw the type of clothing that the two had on. The material and design are similar to her world before she found herself in this world. She simply sighed, uses some DP to purchase some winter articles of clothing and teleports to their location.

The twins were still taking in the snowy landscape around them when someone suddenly appears right in front of them. It is Evelyn with fur coats and some warm leggings for the two.
The twins become guarded against her sudden appearance. It did not help that her current appearance is eerily similar to a youkai known as the Yuki-Onna.
"Here."
Evelyn levitates the fur coats and leggings towards the two. The twins with apprehension and confusion, not knowing to trust this youkai-looking girl.
"Hurry or you will freeze to death."
They then realize how cold they were and quickly snags the coats and leggings. With quick movements, the two wear the leggings underneath their dress and the fur coat over their torso. Instantly they become shielded from the cold and they became warm. They grew less wary of the unknown girl in front of them.
"Now then, why is it that you two are here for?"
"Um, to find a place to stay. It's getting dark out."
"You two chose one of the worst places to try and stay in," Evelyn said. "Now the next question I have is where are your parents?"
Evelyn finds it strange that two small girls are wandering around without any supervision. Besides that, she wanted to know something more specific; whether these two twin girls came from the same world as her.
"They're...not here." The older one said. "I don't know where we are."
She then starts to tear up at the mention of her parents.
"Looks like she was bottling it in." Evelyn thought. "She misses her parents."
That feeling is a vague and foreign notion to Evelyn. Even now she did not miss that mother of hers in any way.
"Let us not wait around like this," Evelyn said to break the current mood. "We are moving."
The two little girls tilt their heads in response. Before they could ask Evelyn whisks them away, along with herself, with her dungeon privilege.

A happy chorus of laughter and voices erupts from the house of Evelyn. Of course, it no longer looks like a shabby thatched house anymore. With the DP earned from the lotteries and when the three stayed, she had enough to renovate her homestead. It is now more like a one-floor villa, with enough rooms to house four separate bedrooms, a toilet, a washroom, a guestroom, a kitchen, and a dining room; though the insides are still mostly unfurnished.
Within the dining room, the two twins are in a joyous mood. The two girls who are under the age of ten are conversing happily with Alice.
"Then, then..."
"Wow!..."
Evelyn calmly drinks her tea as she listens to the three. It has already been around a day or so since the two settled in. They were bewildered at first but after they knew that Evelyn meant no harm they relaxed themselves to a certain extent.
Arisugawa Hanako and Arisugawa Hinako, both 9 years of age. Hinako being the older of the two. The two tried to explain what happened but it was difficult to piece together what they were saying. They had limited vocabulary and had trouble trying to recall exactly what happened step by step.
At the end, from what Evelyn could piece together, it seems that they were specifically brought over to this world. They were in the middle of a school trip. While playing, the both of them headed into the nearby forest during the class' lunch time. After finding out something was wrong they turned back but could not find their way out of the forest. They met with strange monsters and beasts that it became surprising that they did not become someone's lunch or dinner.
Now, with the tension from possibly being eaten gone, they are more relaxed and carefree than before they met Evelyn.
"Hinako-chan, Hanako-chan."
"Hmm? Evelyn-nee-san?"
"What do you want to do?"
They remain silent. A creeping dark expression slowly consuming their mood.
"I do not know the way to return," Evelyn continues. "but you may stay here until you can find a way back."
"Can we really?" Hanako, the younger sister asked.
A soft smile on Evelyn's face and a nod from her put the two at ease. Hanako fidgets a little and then she runs up to Evelyn and tackles her while she remains seated.
Evelyn is startled from the sudden physical contact and Hanako attempts to give Evelyn a hug. Since Evelyn is seated, it is impossible for Hanako to give a proper hug, so she instead comprises. Her head lies upon Evelyn's lap and her arms strongly gripping onto her kimono.
With that, the first two residents of Evelyn's dungeon was decided. The day ended with Evelyn soothing the younger sister and reassuring the other.
