章 34: Chapter Thirty-Four: The Trip Back to the Rosenstein Capital

It has been a good month for the three adventurers who have been living inside of Evelyn's dungeon. With all the good things they have found and gathered within the dungeon, it is hard to say the experience was bad. The workload was not too bad when you compare it to the quests one would have to do to even earn a fraction of what they have earned this whole month. Not only that but they have been eating pretty well over the past month. The crystal stags that roam the snowfields of the dungeon are delicious. Coupled with the fact that even though they have been hunting quite a few of them, their numbers have not decreased at all. They also felled a couple of the Frostwood Pinetrees and cut off the branches turning them into logs. Even though the three have asked Evelyn to provide another wagon to help transport things back, they could not help but ask her again for another one along with a pair of Ember horses to pull them as well. In total, they now had three wagons to pull, including the one they used to traverse to the dungeon.

"It's been about close to a month now, we should head back soon," Dianne said. "We can't bother Evelyn to provide more wagons and horses for us."

Both Leonard and Linda looked at one another and then their gazes slowly drift towards their goods loaded onto the wagons. Crates made crudely from Frostwood Pinetrees is used to store the meat from the hunted Crystal Stags. With it to keep the temperature low enough so that it would spoil as quickly, they became more assured of their travel back. They filled up most of the two wagons. The last wagon had bundles of fur, minerals and various species of plants loaded into it. They had already made sure that it was not too heavy for the Ember horses to pull along; in fact, they seem to be able to effortlessly pull the loaded wagons.

"Well, there are only three of us," Leonard points out. "I don't think any of us can ride two wagons at the same time."

With them checking the goods and securing them within the wagons for one last time, they are finally ready to set back off towards the capital. They became giddy from the excitement of the prospect of profits that would come from selling all of their goods. Of course, most of their targeted consumers would be nobles and merchants who hold the most wealth. With each of them in their respected seats, Dianne leads with Leonard following and Linda taking the rear. As they exit from the entrance of the dungeon, Evelyn along with Alice, Asahi, and Tsukiko, watch as they trot on out of their home. Watching until the last wagon exited out, Evelyn turns around and heads on home with the other three tagging along behind her.

.....

"It feels nice to be back!"

After the long travel, the three finally got back to the capital. Leonard speaks loudly as he stretches his body upon reaching their destination. Already, there is some commotion when they saw that two out of the three carriages were pulled by a pair of Ember horses. They could not help but be impressed at how magnificent they looked. Leonard noticed all the attention they were getting and lifted his face upwards as if to boast.

"Stop messing around and help us unload!" Linda glares at him. "We need to transport them and sell them as quick as we can! We still got many more things to do today!"

"Yeah, yeah I heard you."

They were planning to sell half to the guild as they provide a decent market price. Not only that but in return, they also accumulate some merits for selling it to them. With more merits, the more you were given priority over certain quests and possibly even some exclusivity to some quests as well. However, it has been scrutinized as bribing the guild for those said quests. To the present time, the guild has not disclaimed this allegation, rather it was a rather popular belief among those who could not gain their favor. The other half went along their original plans of selling to the wealthy nobles and merchants.

As the three shuffle their feet with the cargo, many of the onlookers observe with interest. One of the more keen audience members had noticed that the boxes were made from a peculiar type of wood.

"No way! Is that what I think it is?!" He shouts. "You guys are crazy using Frostwood Pines as the material for those boxes!"

Hearing his shout, as many as half the onlookers glance at him with confusion. A fourth try to recall what it is, feeling a familiarity with the name. The last fourth just gasps in response to his shout.

"It's true! Now that he points it out, those boxes are made from Frostwood Pinetrees!"

"What a waste!"

"With such high demand, they're almost worth their weight in gold coins!"

Similar outcries begin to erupt from those who knew the worth of such wood. In response, Dianne only smiled to their shouts. Even after they finished moving all the boxes, some of them were still tutting. However, as soon as they unloaded the next wagon, they all froze. Logs of Frostwood Pinetrees were loaded to the utmost brim. Since the trees grew symmetrically, they were all almost perfect logs when they removed the branches.

"These guys...how were they able to harvest so many logs of Frostwood Pinetrees?"

"Unbelievable, you might as well just replace the contents with gold coins seeing all those logs."

Leonard took great joy in their state of frozen expressions. Chuckling to himself, a hand chop lands on the top of his head.

"C'mon, we still got work to do."

While rubbing the pained area, he could spy the corners of Linda's mouth twitching upwards. It seems it is just not him that took joy in the crowd's reaction. With angry grumbles, he walks over to the logs and helps with the transportation of the logs into the guild's warehouse.

As the people watch them start to put the logs away, a single thought flashes through their minds.

"They're rich."

After seeing the number of gold coins they just earned, many of them informed their party. Wanting to depart at any time so that they could figure out where the three came across so much raw material of an expensive tree.

What they did not know is that it was not the end of the surprises the three had brought back.
