Me and my friends had to visit the Falcon Tower, and buy a few tickets. Grandpa was kind enough to hand me some more money, because the tickets weren't that cheap. The cheapest ticket, without a private room, amounted to seventy gold coins. That was for the journey to the Imperial City. Of course closer destinations were cheaper, but not cheap. Mounts weren't free either. They charged ten gold coins per mount.
There were also more expensive tickets, ranging from hundred-twenty to almost two-hundred coins. I opted for the hundred-twenty gold coins per person, but thanks to my feather, we got a discount. Students of the Academy enjoyed loads of benefits, riding on board Flacon was one of them.
In reality, I paid only a hundred gold coins per person, and our mounts could enter for free. Once the tickets were taken care of, we returned to the Academy and packed ourselves. "I'll say farewell to Remi before we leave. You guys wait here at the tower, alright?", I said to my friends.
Remi was a bit saddened by the news, but she knew we'd leave one day. "Do visit me again… When you can. I've so much to learn, but I'll try my best. Next time we meet, I'll be sure to surprise you", she said. "Hehe, I do hope so, Remi. Now that you have access to the second floor's Runes and Formations, there's no need to advance, right? Ask my grandpa if you need anything, don't be shy, he's your family too", I replied with a smile.
She nodded then hugged me for a while. Remi was on the right track. She started out late, but was more diligent than some of those First Class students. With proper help, and access to better knowledge, she was on the right track. Though it was a shame I couldn't teach her and grandpa the Northern ways, I hoped the future would be different.
"All done?", Dawn asked upon my return. "Yea, let's say farewell to grandpa and be on our way", I replied. "I'm really against the idea of you leaving. That stupid father of yours should be here soon", grandpa said. "You worry too much, grandpa. We don't know much about their plans, but it seems they aren't in a rush. My father will investigate that himself, while we explore the Imperial City… and the Falcon. Besides, The North isn't weak, and a barrier protects us. They'd be stupid to attack us. Maybe it's something else", I replied.
"... I'm not sure, I have a bad feeling about this. Here, take this with you. I'm sure your parents gave you something better, but… I can't let you go with nothing", he said while handing me a piece of tough leather. I was confused at first, but then noticed a Formation embedded inside the leather.
"This is one of the Formations from the top floor. This one is water based, and it will produce a wave of water that can easily drown or repel your opponents. The more energy you pour into that, the stronger the wave. Though be careful. You can break the Formation, if too much energy is transferred. This piece of leather isn't weak, or normal, but it's not indestructible. Keep that in mind, and use it when in trouble", he explained.
I promised to be careful, and hugged him as a farewell. "The Falcon should arrive in about an hour or so. Are we going straight to the tower?", Teri asked on our way to collect our Tauruses. "We'll go straight to the tower…", before I finished, someone called out to us. 'Of course it's them, who else could it be?', I figured. "I heard you guys are leaving already. We were hoping you'd stay a while longer", Henry said.
"Hehe, yea, we stayed long enough. We'd like to visit other places too", "That's a shame… Where are you heading next?", he asked instead. "We'll visit the Imperial City, then? Who knows? We'll decide that later". I could tell they didn't want us to leave, but they couldn't stop us. If they were to use force, it wouldn't end well for them. Especially since they were spying on us for one reason or another.
They proposed to escort us to the tower, but we refused. There was no need for them to tag along, and I was tired of their faces already. "Since that's the case, let's meet again upon your next visit", "Yea, sure, see you guys next time", I replied before we left the Academy.
The Falcon arrived about an hour after we got to the tower. We had to let people off first, before we could board ourselves. There was a separate section for all mounts, and those that didn't behave were placed in cages. The owner had no say in that, but fortunately Turry and others were docile.
We were then led to the main passenger area, and it was something else indeed. Loads of soft chairs and benches filled our view. There were some tables too, but this wasn't our area. This was the area for people with the cheapest tickets. We were led to our own private rooms.
Though the rooms were small, with a cough and basic table, it was a personal space. No one could see you, and you didn't have to see others. The doors had a lock, therefore no one would disturb the person inside either. At least, no one could simply barge in. We were then told where to find places that sold items, weapons or armour and even food.
None of us expected the business end on board the Falcon. That thing wasn't there to simply get people from point A to point B. They made sure to sell stuff, and at not so bad prices, at least according to Tara. Thankfully they didn't choose to wear those multi-coloured clothes.
We all got busy with something. Tara decided to browse all shops and hunt for bargains, Teri of course had to join her. Me and Dawn decided to take it slowly at the start. "What about the Formations? Weren't you interested?", she asked as we checked some items. "With my feather it should be possible. I'll have to check and ask around. This Falcon is quite big, I'm not sure where they keep those Formations. Moreover, Academy teachers and students aren't allowed to see some of them", I replied.
"No worries, let's grab something to eat first. We are on the round course, since Ortava was the next stop from the Imperial City. This will take a while before we arrive there", I proposed instead. Dawn agreed, and we didn't need to worry about Tara or Teri. They had their own money thanks to Tara. She earned quite a lot in Ortava, but not as much as my grandpa handed to me.
"What about that Peet? You didn't say much about him after he left. You don't miss him?", Dawn tried to tease me during the dinner. "Really? You must be bored, I guess. There was nothing between us. Though, if he's successful, we might meet one day. I wonder how he's going to develop, and whether he'll teach a lot of students", I replied.
"Heeeh, you miss him after all", instead of replying to that, I flicked a piece of food at her face. "You wanna start a fight?", "That should be my question, bastard… Okay, don't make a scene. People are watching", I replied. We enjoyed the rest of our meal, but Dawn tried to poke at me after that. She wasn't even funny at that stage, rather she was annoying.
"Alright, I'll let you off for today. Go, have a look at those Formations of yours. I'm sure that's more interesting for you, right?", Dawn proposed out of nowhere. "Perhaps that's not a bad idea. I'm just worried they'll refuse…", before my sentence finished, Curly jumped off my neck. She climbed Dawn, then rested on her shoulder.
"What are you doing exactly?", "Arf… Arf! Arf". Her meaning was clear, she didn't want to go with me. "Hehe, Curly doesn't seem to enjoy Formations unlike you. I'll take care of her, you have fun", Dawn said with a grin, then simply left. '... I'll remember this betrayal, Curly. You'll regret it, be sure of that'. With both of them gone, checking out the Formations became my goal.
