"What?" Skylar muttered. She was a bit shaken by the amount of hate his voice carried. Did he hate her that much?. She took a step back and looked at him in disbelief.
"How dare you come back here after everything you both did, you conniving slut!" he continued.
Skylar felt a bit relieved, understanding that he wasn't talking about her. She moved closer to him and stroke his shoulders, but he flinched. He looked up at her from where he sat, a look of realization crossed his face, then, he stood up and hugged her.
Skylar's eyes bulged in shock, she didn't know how to react to the situation and just as she was about to say something, she felt something cold and wet dripping onto her shoulder, and she swallowed her words.
Richard trembled as he cried; he had tried so hard to be strong, he tried to forget all that happened in the past but then, it all came flooding at once. He felt like the dam keeping his emotions and sanity at bay had broken loose, and he couldn't help but let it all out.
Skylar held on to the sobbing man as she rubbed his back. She didn't say anything; she didn't need to. She understood that at that moment, all he needed was a comforting shoulder. They were oblivious to the sounds and actions around them. In that moment, it was just them, and their gloomy atmosphere.
Skylar didn't know how long they were in that position. He eventually began to calm down. He took in deep breaths as if to ward off any traitor tears that might want to make their way out. After a while, he released Skylar from the embrace, and he shyly looked down to the floor, feeling too embarrassed to face her after his break down. Skylar lifted his face up and dried his eyes with her sleeves.
"Let's get you home," She suggested, looking into his eyes, seeing no disapproval, she supported his slightly wobbling body as much as she could and led him out of the bar.
She was able to get him to lay down in the back seat before remembering that the bar owner had his phone. Locking the car door, she ran back to the bar where she retrieved the phone and tipped the bar owner with the money she had on her.
On returning to the car, she saw Richard pounding away at the door and screaming for help. She hurriedly unlocked the door and Richard tried to run out of the car, pushing both her and himself down in the process. Skylar's face turned a deep shade of pink when she remembered the last time they were in the same position; except this time, he was on top of her.
After much struggle, she was able to push the limp Richard aside and stood up. She took a closer look at him and checked if he was still breathing. She realised he had passed out, so, she mustered all the energy she could and lifted him into the car.
She was lucky no one had seen her or else she might have not been able to explain the situation. She could only imagine the news saying 'Young lady drugs the Wilson heir in a failed kidnap attempt' or 'Desperate lonely lady drugs rich young men'.
"hmph, as if!" She scoffed, taking a look at the drunk man who still managed to look handsome in his unconscious state.
Laying him down in the car took away all the breath she had in her. She sat in the drivers seat and heaved heavily, trying to catch her breath. At the same time, she wondered what had gone wrong with him and why the hell he tried to run out of the car like a maniac?. When she was relaxed, she started the car and set off to the mansion.
Back at the mansion, she stood by the car and tried to drag him out of it. In her struggles, she mistakenly banged his head on the door, and he groaned. He blinked his eyes a few times before finally opening them. Looking around, he saw Skylar holding on to him in a weird angle, there was a throbbing pain in his head, and he felt the sudden need to throw up. He contorted his face weirdly, and Skylar could tell what was about to happen.
"Don't you dare throw up on me Rich!" she scolded as she lost her balance and dropped him. The upper half of his body hung outside the car and in that position, he emptied his stomach. He only missed Skylar by an inch, but he immediately began to feel better.
He looked up and saw the scrunched face of Skylar and he smiled lazily, "Sorry. In my defence, you did drop me," he drawled as Skylar's face contorted into a frown. "Oh! why does my head ache so much?" he tried to feel the side of his head that Skylar had bumped on the car door.
"Err, uh it.. it doesn't matter now, what matters is that you're safe," Skylar replied, offering her cheekiest grin.
I'm sorry for the delay. I was on a little break but I'm back now. So, expect more regular updates of Hey Boss.
How do you like this chapter. I wonder what our dear Richard is going through.
