章 7: The Paternity Test

For the past few months, the National Health Institution was busy with multiple paternity and maternity test by several distinguished houses. The higher ups have instructed that they take the utmost care in determining correct result as those houses have been known to be previously barren.

All of a sudden few of them were requesting for paternity tests to certify their heirs' legitimacy. The government was in turmoil as expectations of power expansion were met with these roadblocks of mysterious legitimate heirs.

" Run that test again ! "

A loud roar could be heard from one of many labs along the hallway

" But we have already done it several times, and the results indeed shows that the child is indeed his son, sir... "

" I don't care, just keep running it again and again until I am satisfied ! "

" Yes, sir ! "

The geneticist quickly responded before signing off and passing it to his assistant on test repetition approval.

His higher ups are very displeased with the results, but there was nothing he can do about it but to comply with their wishes for another inspection. He was thinking if he should alter the results just to make his superior happy, but that though quickly left his mind as he'd risk loosing his job if found out.

On his desk were two sets of DNAs to be re-tested for paternity. House Dracovich and House Argento with their silver-haired trademark. He shook his head as results will still be positive regardless how many times they tested. He was curious on how did they managed to 'cheat' on the test under the watchful eyes of so many witnesses.

' None of my business, I'd better just do what I was paid to do and get on with it... ' he thought.

The next batch of result was about to be concluded and he hastily prepared the report for 'Nth' time.

Behind a closed room, one of the government authoritarian's face was very dark. Retesting results are back and it's not favorable to the government. He was of opinion to redo the test again, but stopped himself as further lashing will not change the result.

The higher ups have designated him to handle the case of sudden legal heirs appearances. Each successfully names heir would marks another roadblock to their plans of fully controlling the country. What's worst was that they know these children can't possibly be their legal heirs, however test results proved otherwise leaving them helpless.

" Should I get those dimwits to modified the results slightly ? After all there is no way he is his child... " He whispered to himself.

The government officer started scheming as he had received instructions to undermine those nobles' plan to retain their influences. If results aren't satisfactory, officially he will not be able to halt Vaughn von Dracovich's succession proceedings.

" However, if they were to get a third party for verification purposes, won't we be in trouble ? " His assistant, a bubbly middle age lady overheard his thoughts and advises.

" We can always bribe them, can't we ? Audrey... " the black-haired middle aged gentleman smirked.
