章 1: Ending and Beginning
I knew I would never live to grow old.
In my line of work, either you died guns blazing or you live long enough to became an informant. In which case you'd still die, as the syndicate hates nothing more than snitches.
I was born in a slum. I never knew love. My Father abandoned my Mother and she died giving birth to me. I grew up in hunger and fought to live. Every day was a struggle.
I was alone when I came into this world and fittingly, I am alone as I die.
The Syndicate took me in when I was 7. I worked as a beggar and deposited my haul at the end of the day. The Syndicate fed me and protected me. Slowly, I moved up. Got more lucrative jobs. I stole, I murdered and I did whatever the Syndicate asked of me.
I don't regret any of it as I lay bleeding on the tarmac right now. This world is a terrible and dark place, and I am simply one of those who make it so. That was my path in this lifetime and now it has ended.
Darkness came over my eyes and then there was light.
