章 9: Partners
I woke up with the sunlight blaring into my eyes. Flinching, a shadow swooped in and it was Ren.
"Thanks, how are you?" Ren just nodded and stretched out his hand. Accepting it, I stood up. It looks like today is another day. We cleaned up our fireplace and moved forward. Shinha was gratefully waiting for ud at the edge of the forest.
It was like a whole new world. There was no technology and everything was old fashioned. There was even knights and kings.
"Ren, where is this??" He smiled and responded with, "Welcome to my world." His world? Ren grabbed my hands and started moving forward. I flinched and grabbed my hand back. I was afraid of what they would think of me.
"It's okay, the you now is a normal thing in their lives." I looked at him with confused look. But I trusted him, so I slid my hand into his hands. Taking a deep breath in, we walked towards a village.
Once we were in, people were not looking at me with disgust. Rather, it was like they were used to it. It was fascinating, there were stalls with so many different things that were selling like swords, foods, or medicine. But, they were people who I saw that were beggars.
"Ren...where is this?" He replied with, "Well, this is another dimension, so we won't be hunted anymore." I gasped. Was I now gonna get some peace now?! My human side burst opened and excitedly explore everywhere. And I can see that Ren was amused and just tagged along. Before I even knew it, dawn had appeared and people were closong uo their stalls but the shops were still open.
"The stalls close early but the shops stay a bit longer." It was Ren, he appeared out of nowhere as usual. "Then let's check out the shops." I grabbed his hand and dragged him along. My first shop in this world was a clothing shop. Stepping in, bells jingled alerting the store manager to greet us. After greeting us, I went to the black clothing, it seems my color preference changed, but I didn't mind.
I grabbed what I liked and changed in a fitting room. Stepping out, I admired what I was wearing. I had a turtleneck that looked like the starry night but I cut it until my chest area. And I decided to wear long black pants, it was orginally a black skirt, but I made arrangements with my daggers. I kept my high boots.
"You look upgraded. It's nice." Ren was looking up and down. I felt embarrassed, he was staring too long. "Okay, stop. We have to pay." Luckily the men we killed had money on them and it was similar to this world. Paying for the clothes, we decided to rent a room upstairs from a tavern.
Settling in, I plopped down onto the bed. It's been so long since I last slept in a comfortable bed. I told Ren goodnight and fell asleep. But in the middle of the night, I felt something was coming to our room. I quietly but swiftly got out of bed and went to wake up Ren.
"Ren...wake up." Ren slightly opened his eyes and looked at me with a look saying what are you doing. Then, the floorboards made a groaning noise. Ren snapped up and made eye contact with me.
Did they find us already?! But, we were in another dimension. But then I realized the strange man I met that day, he had a similar aura to Ren. Maybe, if Ren could come jere, that man could. Bracing myself, the door opened and right when I was about to strike. It was a girl. I paused, a girl? What is she doing here?
"What are you doing here?" The girl looked at me with an annoying looked and a blast of wind knocked me back. After it resided, shinha appeared. "Shinha? Where's the girl?!" "You dummy, that was me.." My eyes widened, "What?!" I never knew shinha could transform into a little girl who looks like a doll. Shinha huffed at me and trotted to my bed and hopped on it. She took up the entire soace of the bed.
"Shinha, that's where I sleep." I was complaining. "You can sleep here, I won't do anything." I looked at Ren suspiciously. "You better or I'll chop your hands off." I climbed into his bed and turned my back to him. It seems I couldn't sleep even if time passed by.
"Zero....are you awake?" My pulse quickened. " Yes...why?" I started to get nervous. "Nothing...nevermind..goodnight." I felt he turned around and was facing the opposite from me. I turned around and took up my courage. I hugged his back and Ren frozed. I quickly let go and felt like I wanted to crawl in a hole and die in it. But, Ren turned around and hugged me back.
"You know, I love you." I smiled against his chest and fell asleep. Who knew that I would get a handsome man as my boyfriend.
