章 78: Thoughts on writing and problems

An interesting idea comes up. For instance. about the search for treasures, antiques, philately, numismatics. Now in the 21st century, in countries with developed economies, you can safely sell (without restrictions) everything you find according to the laws of the country.

It can be stamps, fossilized teeth of marvelous, fossilized shells, old bricks with brands of manufacturers, coins, buttons, silverware, china, old things. All this costs some money. Sometimes very decent money.

For some garbage, 5 cents of 1949, for example, you can get post 700 dollars. And in the baskets and small caskets of grandmothers in flea markets, sometimes you can find up to 10 -20 of these coins. And buy for only 10 dollars.

One brand can cost $ 160. And the old gold coin is all 7,000 dollars.

The search process itself is fascinating. Even more fun than the result itself.

Sometimes, according to an old habit, people of the old generation loved to collect boxes of honey. At a time of total shortage, they stored needles, coins, buttons ... and then it turned out that their contents also cost money from antique dealers. Like the tin boxes themselves, which can be called garbage, and they have a price of 50 and some at 300 dollars apiece. And when dozens of such boxes in perfect condition? This is big money!

But with time, if you write about it, the topic itself seems to you how the author becomes boring. Since the same events happen. It becomes not interesting. But in theory, you have another more interesting arch, but it is future, and the old one needs to be finished logically somehow. What to do? Throw the old arch or come up with some unexpected reason and curtail the search in the village and return to the city ?! And there already start a new arch? Or stupidly write uninteresting "bridge" chapters to finish a boring arch and move on to a more dynamic? It probably depends on the reaction of readers.

When, a person, a reader, does not like fillers, but being an author, the same person finds fillers quite convenient for creating an "adapter" from a boring arch to a fun arch. Interesting transformation of the same person, do not you?

You are writing a novel. the idea was interesting but it has exhausted itself ... is it worth it to finish the novel here? But then a new idea may appear, then can it be continued to write a new novel, for example, season 2?

As the gurus of this site say - if you want more readers to watch you, then as an author you should write a lot right away, updating 2000-3000 words every day. But at the same time, we can see other examples when the author updates once a week, 1-2 chapters each of 1000-1200 words, and readers are not diminishing. Views are also many.

It seems there are two sides to the coin. One purely formal, where only writing speed is required, a beautiful cover, frequent updates. And the second side is a high-quality text block, good or average English grammar, and, most importantly, an interesting and exciting story, that is, high-quality content.
