I stand back up, my arms hurt, if they did hurt like this before I ate those treasures I wouldn't have been able to hold the scythe anymore. However, now I can still hold it, wield it even, probably better than I could in my best condition before! This stupid tortoise still isn't my match!
"Hehehehehehehe!" a laugh I didn't know I was building up escaped my mouth as I sprint forward again. So what if your punches fly through space? I'll just come close and beat you up there!
When I get closer the tortoise starts throwing a punch at me again, nothing escapes my sight. When the day ends everything will show its true nature!
When I tell myself that I actually see the air around its fist ripple, when he throws the punch the ripple moves quickly towards me. My scythe moves in front of the ripple while I dodge it, my palm moves towards where its chest should be under its shell. The tortoise sees my palm coming and decides to just let it connect, his eyes with their smug look lock with my eyes. I don't know what he sees, but the smugness disappears a bit before appearing again, but it's too late. My palm connects with his chest and nothing happens, he looks even more smug now but due to his sick interest in seeing the despair in my eyes he misses a very important detail!
The scythe that went in front of the space ripple got hit right behind the blade, this pushed it out. I used all the strength I could use without showing too much of it to direct the blade to where I wanted it to be! The tip of the blade dug in his neck just above the shell right at the moment he noticed that there was no despair in my eyes, this tiny mistake changed its fate from a fortress that couldn't be taken out into a fountain, shooting thick, red blood high up into the sky after which it falls back down as red rain. And I'm standing in it, looking up, feeling the red drops falling back down on my face. A grin appears on my face, this grin turns into soft laughter, followed by laud laughter sounding more sinister than I imagined I could sound! But it feels amazing!
A few moment later the now dead tortoise falls down, the last bits of blood trickling out of its shell as it had retracted its head before dying. All this for naught, the moment it didn't look at my scythe it was as good as dead already. But I have more important things to do now though!
"HARE! Get over here!"
Hearing my call the hare walks out of the scrubs, he looks at me warily, he's a bit scared of me. Hehehe what a pushover, I only showed him I could take down the tortoise, it's not something to be afraid of right? Right!?
"I took doen the last one you wanted, you can have it after you initiated the contract. Let's get it over with, I want to start on my road to become strong. So let's do the contract, and we'll walk the road to power together!"
The hare nods slowly, his ears still hanging down. He disappears and reappears on my shoulder. The only difference with normally is that I could see it now, the hare shifts to somewhere behind the world, moves there really quickly and shifts back. But I can even follow him moving now! I really do see things I couldn't see before, this is amazing!
The hare sitting on my shoulder lays its cheek against mine and a golden glow starts forming on his forehead, this golden glow moves out of its head and follows an arc to touch the front of my head! An image in my head shows me the golden glow flowing towards the whirlpool in my head and getting sucked in. At the moment the golden glow touches the dark, sparkling waters twisting around the golden core it turns red. This golden glow that turned red flows with the flow towards the centre, creating a thin line of blood red within the dark water. After touching the golden core it creates a thin red line on that too. Then it stopped.
Opening my eyes I can feel something different now, a connection between me and the hare, I feel mostly uncertainty and fear coming from it, but also respect and determination. It looks into my eyes and a new thought entered my mind, I need to give it a name to finalise our connection! But what should I call it? Maybe something with hare? Or something with space? No, I remember! What he does is move through the void, so maybe something with Vo, Voha, Vohe, Vothe!
"Hare, you have been wise to decide to follow me! Now I shall grant you a name, you shall be known as Vothe, traveler of the void!" inspiration struck me to make it a bit grander then it all had to be, but seeing the glint in Vothe's eyes it is worth it. Although he must work hard to truly earn a title! Also, I like making things a bit grander hehe, it's funny seeing others being so excited about nothing really! Goba was going to give me a name too, how long is he going to wait with that? Maybe I should just name myself, I'm great at it!
My smile widens, that seems to please Vothe, even though I was smiling for myself. But who cares.
"Come Vothe, let's take this fucker with us back to Goba, he must be surprised seeing that I already hunted it!"
And so our long way back, hauling a big, heavy deadweight, began. Nobody should attack something unknown at night, you never know when you'll kick an iron plate! So we weren't bothered on our way back. I washed all the blood from my body in the creek and moved the last part back to the farm.
By the time we arrived it was light already, I'm glad I'm not tired yet, I really want to be in my best condition to show my great trophy to Goba, he must be proud that I could hunt it and that I got the hare to form the contract with me willingly! I can't wait go grow even stronger and form my own land for those I care about and those who want to join us with good intentions.
It's amazing that my goals have changed so much in these last weeks, before I met Goba my greatest goal was to wake up the next day, but now even I can't even imagine how much I want to accomplish!
Throwing this stupid deadweight over the fence, and hopping over it effortlessly I finally arrive at the farm, at our shed. Vothe is sitting on my shoulder, he wasn't really strong enough to contribute to the hauling. But it's okay haha I've grown stronger myself!
I can't stop smiling imagining Goba's surprised face seeing us, maybe he won't even frown anymore, that would be hilarious. Oh something moved inside the shed, it must be him!
"Goba! Come look at what I hunted tonight!"
