What should I wear? Does it matter, does she care about those kinds of things? Wait why do I care? All of these thoughts ran through William's head in lightning succession. He had never cared about these sorts of things before so why did he care now? In the end, he wore a blue cloak that was as dark as the vast oceans and a dark pair of trousers. He thought of wearing his emerald cloak to match the princess but he didn't want to seem like he was trying too hard because truth be told he didn't know how he felt about the young woman yet. He reached for his sword about to attach it to his waist with the darkened leather strap, but then he hesitated.
"What am I doing?" William said aloud as he placed his sword back on the bed. As much as he wanted to always have his sword by his side he was in a foreign land at the royal place no lest. He decided it was best to leave the treasure bestowed upon him by his late mother behind but before he left he took one last look at it.
The blade was long and flat double-edged all the way to the hilt. It was covered in runes from eons ago. Many believe it to be from before the founding of the Kingdoms when the world was still rocked with natural disasters and chaos. The hilt was made of gold and steel it had five Sapphires, three along the crossguard one was encrusted in the hilt and the final was on the pommel of the sword. Legends had it that it was the sword that ended the chaos and founded the Kingdoms. Will knew that it couldn't be the sword of legend. Why would his mother trust him with such a sword?
"Okay," Will said as he placed the sword back and walked out the room banishing all thoughts of his mother from his mind. He had steeled his heart to her loss long ago, he couldn't bear to remember what he had lost.
Will navigated the large corridors back toward the throne room, he reached a hand out to knock when he heard a booming voice yell "Skye! Bite your tongue, he is a guest of this family and he will be treated with the respect he deserves."
Will slightly deflated. What had she said about him to have the King react in such a manner? What had he said to upset the princess in such a way? "Yes, Father" was barely audible through the large oak doors. Will decided it was now or never and knocked on the only thing between him and the argument before him.
