It was just that he never expected that this most wanted item would be right under his nose!
In fact had he not found her slumbering in the bath he may not have discovered that the very pendant hung from his little wifes neck!
He gently picked her up, wrapping her in a towel. His actions woke her up, the drowsy Kagura found herself wrapped in a towel in a princess carry in Masamune's arms.
This scene was awfully familiar, in fact it was always he who picked her up whenever she fell asleep carelessly.
She didn't lash out at him for seeing her naked, after all they were husband and wife. If he had been any other man she would definitely not have let him go until he perished from the face of the earth.
"Let me down," Although reluctant to let go of the soft body in his arms he did not want to anger her as she lightly pushed him out to change.
She wore a light silver cloud patterned dress that made her appear like a moon goddess, exuding an air of regal elegance.
Her still damp hair stuck to her temple and back. Masamune found the sight of her very beautiful, however he did not like how she did not take good care of herself.
He took the towel from her hands and dried her long silk like hair from the roots to the tips.
When he asked her of the pendant on her neck he could clearly see the momentary sadness within her eyes and the small frown of her lips.
*The pendant was the only memento that came with the diary that was left with her.
Masamune was sitting across from her unable to say a word. When he continued to ask if she would be willing to exchange her pendant for her life would she be willing.
She did not hesitate to shake her head in refusal.
Mother...she was unable to part with it. It was a priceless treasure to her. Hearing her statement Masamune's expression turned dark.
So what if it is a priceless treasure?! Wasn't her life more important?! Did she really wish to die and be free from him?
Kagura stood blankly staring at the man who lashed out at her in his frustration. "...That's not it" she held the hem of his sleeve.
"What is it?" Seeing that she was trying to speak to him, dispersed the frustration in his heart. He felt terrible for lashing out at her but he couldn't help it, his loved one had a chance to save her life but she didn't want to take it.
He wanted to spend their life together till their hairs turn grey. He calmed himself as he patiently waited for her to speak.
She was not used to speaking so much and struggled but finally told him what prevented her from parting with it.
Kagura looked down, she told him everything. Somewhere in her heart she had already accepted her fate, the weight on her shoulders felt lighter.
Masamune retained his composure but couldn't hide his shock.
She decided to tell him before it was too late.
This pendant was possibly the only thing that could lead her to her parents. Her biological parents. Who she was! She wanted to know who she was, if her parents loved her, she had so many unanswered questions.
So when she was asked if she was willing to exchange her pendant for her life she didn't know what to say.
