章 265: What It Means to Be Happy.

Armand narrowed his eyes and gave his brother an appraising look, "Well, if this does not concern you, then I am free to do what I consider right. In the end, the girl should know what happened to her family. And she should be able to meet her father if she wants to."

The man's comment did not cause Marcus any reaction, however, Armand did not count on it. He himself felt that it was time to tell Elena about her family, Amelia entrusted him this information and said that he would understand when the right moment would come.

As soon as they deal with all the important things in Mexico, he will give her this photo and tell about everything.

"So what about you? The love of your life is with you, do you plan to live happily ever after?" Marcus smirked and took a cigarette from his pocket, it was a special mixture prepared for him, it had the effect of drowning out his thirst.

Even if Marcus was sitting next to the man whose body he wouldn't harm much after absorbing his vital energy, he did not want to use his brother as a snack. Although Armand, of all people, would be an excellent source of strength with a self-renewing supply.

Hmm, maybe the idea of turning him against Marcus was really not the most reasonable one? Well, that didn't matter now.

"I don't know, I didn't think about anything like that," Armand looked into the starry sky, the flickering lights in the far depths of space were like his dreams, although they were now real, still seemed out of reach. "I think I don't know what it feels like to be happy."

"Ha, since when have you started thinking like these stupid mortals? You know, these people sometimes annoy me to such an extent that I want to take them together and put them in some kind of oven so that they begin to value their worthless life, instead of complaining every day about how hard they live," Marcus sighed fatefully, it took him a tremendous amount of time to learn not to hear the conversations of the people around him.

"No, well, you hear that too, don't you? Over there," the man pointed towards the hotel, which was more than a kilometer away, "A couple is sitting at the table celebrating the wedding anniversary and instead of going to the room and celebrating as they should, they are sitting and arguing what color should be the wallpaper in their new bedroom!

And here is another girl with a squeaky voice, she had been gathering her courage for more than an hour to approach the guy but did not have time, and he left. And now she is complaining to her brother how unhappy she is and how unlucky she is in love! Well, isn't she stupid?! That guy himself wanted to meet her but thought that she was with her boyfriend so he decided not to bother them."

Marcus looked at Armand and poked his finger at him, "And now you are sitting here and crying, 'oh, how miserable I am, I don't know what it means to be happy'! And I will tell you what your happiness is.

Your dear Polina, although she does not age, can die from the usual flu and accident, like any other person. You can live together for ten, fifty, one hundred years, and then bam! And she's dead. And when will she appear next time? How much time will you have to wait? Another fifty years? Or maybe a hundred and fifty, or maybe even five hundred years?

And if you have children, are you sure that they will be the same as you? No, they will grow up and age like ordinary people. You will live and watch your children and grandchildren die. Do you think your love will stand such a test? How long will you last?"

Marcus's words, like sharp knives, dug into Armand's heart. Before that, he did not think about it, he simply existed, and only the appearance of Lina added breath and color to his life. But how long could it last?

That first and strong love, which he had cherished for many decades, could now break into fragments, shattering the harsh reality of their lives. Those Armand and Polina who loved each other with simple and pure love, no longer existed. They died many years ago. And those who live now in their guises are too different from those naive teenagers, and from ordinary people too.

"So don't tell me, Armand, that you don't know what it means to be happy. While she is with you, while you have at least some feeling, use this time. Because sooner and later there may come a moment when this will not happen anymore," Marcus lowered his head and added softly,

"People live as if they have an eternity ahead, forgetting the most important thing. But you and I, who have all the time in the world at our disposal, know that real life is hiding in the moment which we are living right now."

Armand did not answer anything and was only silently looking into the darkness of the ocean, he knew that the words of Marcus were not simple words. He perfectly understood what his brother had in mind.

A pleasant classical melody grabbed the attention of the brothers from their world of thoughts, Marcus glanced at the display of his phone and frowned slightly, "You should have a good reason to bother me now," the man answered the call.

"Master, I'm sorry to bother you, but this is important."

"Go ahead," Marcus looked at Armand and continued the conversation, he knew that the latter heard everything perfectly.

"Sir, someone got access to the military satellites and the satellites of NASA, it was just a couple of minutes and we managed to detect the signal, but we couldn't trace the source of its location," Simon reported.

"What is the Pentagon saying?"

"Sir, they did not notice the interference, our systems give them the secondary access to satellites. Now everything is all right."

"Hmm, got it, keep me informed," Marcus hung up and looked at the phone. This news, to put it mildly, did not please him.

"Why do you need military satellites? Just don't tell me that you are going to start a war?" Armand asked in all seriousness.

Marcus got up, shook off his trousers from the sand and looked down at the man, "Believe me, my dear little brother, there are situations where even war may seem good," he put his phone in his pocket and smiled, "Well, thank you for the beer. I did not expect our last conversation to be so enjoyable."

"What do you mean 'our last conversation'?" Armand tensed, he felt that Marcus's words had some kind of hidden meaning.

Marcus smiled mysteriously, "Take care of yourself and look after HER," the man replied and vanished into thin air.

Armand looked into the dark distance of the ocean, closed his eyes and inhaled the cool, salty breeze.
