Celder, Dungeon hunter

章 1: The beginning of everything

It all started in 2038 when hundreds of mysterious doors appeared from nowhere around the world.

At first no one approached them and the governors gave the strict order never to approach and enter through one of those doors.

The doors were not touched once by any person until in 2040 someone dared to enter one of those doors.

A Russian teenager. He was the first to enter through one of these doors.

The Russian government at the beginning had chosen not to move as a precaution.

But everything quickly changed.

Several days after the young man entered through that door there was no news of him or anything.

Within 3 days of the first entry through the door the government had decided that it was time to do something about it.

Several teams had been assigned to begin a search for the place but a few moments before the rescue teams entered through the door to rescue the youth, they began to open up.

The next thing the world saw was the young Russian walking and wearing armor and with the head of what seemed to be a huge snake.

A few moments later the young man threw a bag on the ground and shouted into the air.

"Anyone who walks through those doors will become incredibly rich."

The young man in the armor let go of the serpent's head and let it fall to the ground and lifted the bag by turning it over.

What fells out of that bag left everyone speechless.

Hundreds of gold coins, necklaces with diamonds, rings with rubies and hundreds of other things of an incredibly high value fell from the bag.

The other expectant governors of the scene were speechless and without more people from all over the world began to enter through those doors.

But that also started with the highest mortality rate of the year 2040.

By the end of 2040, the highest death rate in history had been recorded.

Among almost 550,613 people killed by the inhabitants that existed behind the doors.

In addition to other 183,413 disappeared who entered through the doors and never came out again.

A short time later, in March 2041, most of the governments decided to create a system that would allow them to enter the doors without any risk.

A Japanese doctor decided to begin physical tests on individuals who wanted to enter through the doors and thus find if they were able to enter but this proved to be very inefficient.

The people gradually created their own system and began to give strict orders on how to take precautions when entering one of the doors.

These doors were called "dungeons" because their interiors recreated long labyrinthine structures, generally underground, plagued by monsters or other enemies faced by the now called "adventurer" continually confronted upon entering.

Slowly but surely people began to enter without any problem the said "dungeons" but still the risk of dying of carelessness was very high.

Although most of the "Adventurers" who entered usually came out with a good booty that were gold coins, silver, old weapons such as long, short swords, daggers, bows and arrows that strangely gave off a mysterious glow along with strange potions that cured everything health problem.

The world went crazy and thousands of laboratories put their hands in many potions to try to find the cure for multiple diseases that were of human or animal origin.

Multiple potions were found in the dungeons.

One that resembles the blood that was able to heal any wound, a green discoloration that removed all the fatigue of the body, a violet that gave more strength to the one that consumed it and finally a blue that strangely nobody until 2043 found use or benefit.

In 2043, the first "sorceress" appeared on television who showed her ability to control elements of nature such as wind, fire, water, earth, ice and electricity.

She also explained that the blue potion helped to recover the now called "mana or spirit" which allowed to invoke the elements.

And time passed and different people with incredible abilities began to emerge.

Now in the year 2045 things are still as moving as when the first adventurer appeared but with more security than before.

My name is John Artos, and I am 22 years old and right now I have discovered one of these dungeons in the woods that I usually go around when I want to relax.

My friends nicknamed me Celder because in role-playing games my favorite character was the magician who usually was always an old character who showed knowledge and patience.

From there came the word "Elder" and the "C" came from my rank as a player in the online game that always plays with them. Shortly after my nickname appeared "Celder" at the beginning it was very embarrassing to be told that way in school and in almost all the places we went together.

But everyone got used to it and everyone started calling me Celder.

Today marks the fifth anniversary of the death of my friends who wanted to enter one of the dungeons out of curiosity.

A dungeon appeared after our school and nobody ever knew it, and they one day entered.

Two days later a couple of adventurers is called for a search mission and left the dungeon with the lifeless bodies of Lucas aldovich and David Sirch junior.

After that tragedy came again and my mother died of cancer and I even tried to pay for one of those healing potions, but everything was in vain.

The price of a potion was about $500,000 dollars.

9 Months later my mother died, she lost her fight against cancer.

It's been 3 years since my mother died.

Right now I live alone in a house that my grandparents gave me and I really live without many worries until I discovered the dungeon in the forest.

Right now, debate with myself about whether to buy equipment and try your luck.

I never had financial problems since my work as a machinist always kept me busy and the cost of electricity, gas and other household comforts was always minimal.

But doing the same thing for a long time brought me some stress, and I was fired from my job, so I had to find a way to stay on foot.

The dungeon was in front of me, and I was debating between entering or not and at the end.

My desire for wealth was stronger my desire for a better life than I had now.

I wanted something more exciting of my life I do not want to live as garbage that did nothing for society.

But by waiting and the sun was falling on the horizon, so I decided to leave for tomorrow.

The remaining hours of light decided to use them to gather equipment.

Celder took advantage of his walk through the forest and picked up branches which he sharpened and made arrows which he then burned with fire to harden them and looked for his carbon fiber bow in the basement of his house in which he also found other items that would help in his First trip to a dungeon.

When he checked the basement boxes he found his grandfather's old and reliable German pistol.

A Luger P08 and also 3 plastic boxes which contained 3 loaders of the Luger.

When checking more carefully, each magazine had 8 bullets that in total left Celder with 72 shots in total.

A bag with a flashlight which had a very powerful light and also had a small frame to put on the head.

5 changes of batteries for the flashlight, A hunting knife, An old military backpack that belonged to his grandfather.

And strangely a can of preserved military food.

Celder was confused and also felt something curious because he did not know if the food was still edible or not, so he decided to throw the can away.

After 4 hours of searching in his basement, he finished his search and when he looked at the clock on his wrist he saw that it was 11:55 at night!

Celder had spent a lot of time in the cellar without realizing it.

Celder spent another hour preparing food which he left in the fridge and left everything ready so that as soon as the sun came out he could go to the dungeon.

Celder locked the front and back doors and went to sleep totally excited as a child who was waiting for Christmas and said to himself before turning off the light.

"Tomorrow will be a new and better day."
