The congested road started to clear up as a sign that the night was not getting any younger.
Han Meixiu was still sitting on that same old bench seemingly lost in her own world.
In normal circumstances, when her thoughts tend to go down a depressing route, she would look around and find an 'eye candy'.
This would help her divert her attention and eventually erase the negative thoughts. But this time it's different. There's nothing or rather, no one could enter her eyes anymore as an 'eye candy'. Everything seemed to be dull.
Thus she's been emitting that depressive aura and wouldn't get any better soon.
With her mind being occupied thus becoming overworked her body wasn't doing any better. She was starting to feel sore as the fatigue slowly and steadily invaded her body.
'My father left, it was just like a dream meeting him.'
'He said they will visit me.'
'Can I really believe his words?'
'A promise to return…'
'Hold on!' She perked suddenly. 'Liu Zijian promised to be back tonight, right? He's different, right?' It might be only a day that he's gone but for someone who was abandoned after promising to be back by morning, Han Meixiu couldn't let her mind at ease.
She wanted to be home but unfortunately, she didn't have her phone so she couldn't contact anyone. She must have lost it earlier when they were running profusely.
She didn't have any money as she also lost her pouch thus she could not ride a taxi. Aunt Jing must've already left. She didn't have a key either. Though she of course knew the pass code of the main door but the other locked on top of it needed a key and she lost it. It was inside her pouch together with some extra cash.
The only thing she could do was to go back to the hospital.
'Hospital! Yes, Brother Long must have been attended already. I need to check him, too!'
With so many things she needed to do she abruptly stood up but was surprised when her legs gave in. She sat back again.
'I must go back to the hospital! I must check Brother Long!' Why on earth did she remember this only now? She felt pathetic.
She should not disappoint them!
They're her family now.
She's now a married woman.
She should be home as soon as possible after she checked her Brother Long.
She conditioned her mind to tell her body to at least reach the hospital and make a call.
With her shaky legs coupled with heavy breathing, it's as clear as the sun during the day that she's exhausted but still she walked forward.
Her vision was focus on the sign of the hospital as she's telling herself that it's her goal. She ignored everything else including the man who was slowly approaching her when she got nearer the hospital.
Liu Zijian extended his arm to block the young woman's path since the latter seemed to be oblivious that he's around.
The location of the hospital was nearer to the airport compared to where they're living thus he decided to drop by first to check any developments.
His father informed him that some people might have seen his wife dropped off Liu Zilong and then she disappeared. It simply meant she wasn't in any grave danger.
He was on his way to the entrance when he noticed a staggering familiar figure so instead of coming in, he changed his direction and 'confront' her. But Han Meixiu was clearly not paying any attention to her surroundings as her focus was to reach the hospital.
He didn't have a choice but to block her path.
Seeing the arm that blocking her, she lifted her head to see someone that gave her an enormous feeling of relief. 'It's him!'
"Zijian… You're back…" She said and smiled gently and her eyes flickered with happiness as she extended her hand to touch him.
'Ah, he really returned like he promised.'
Seeing Liu Zijian her body was filled with assurance that everything would be fine now. Every single nerve on her body started to relax and she let herself be overwhelmed with tiredness. She fell right into his arms while she softly whispered, 'He's here.'
Liu Zijian was taken aback by the sudden act of his wife. Her gentle smile before she collapsed gave him an indescribable feeling in his heart. Her voice as she called his name sounded so sweet and pleasing to him as if a melody that shoot right into his entire being. There was a sudden urge to pamper her.
As he caught her body when she collapsed from excessive fatigue, he smiled and murmured.
"Yeah, I'm back."
She was waiting for him. This thought made him more pleased. The happiness shown on her face was something so genuine that it was fascinating. It gave him a feeling that no matter how tired he was, he'll be fine as long as she's here.
He felt that whatever situations she would encounter, he would be there to help. She's simply worth it.
He carried her princess style and walk towards the entrance. He wanted to be sure if she's okay. When they arrived in a full lighted place, he saw her clearly.
Her shirt has been colored with dirt and there were also some small dried twigs stuck on it. Her legs had small and medium scrapes and her hand and arms were bruised.
Although he didn't like what he was seeing, he's glad she's not suffering from any serious injuries. During his flight he couldn't seem to concentrate on what he was doing. He was worried but he wasn't clearly aware of it.
It seemed that his gratitude to his older brother was getting more and more overwhelming. He's clearly grateful.
He planned to bring Han Meixiu along next time he would go somewhere. It would be better that way.
Of course, the young woman wasn't aware that she would be (forcibly) attached to Liu Zijian that much for the next coming days.
