章 26: Chapter 25 The Gift

I noticed him staring at the gift I held. So I told him how I had found it lying in the rubbish. He asked me why I picked it up instead of leaving it there for the beggars to find and sell. So I explained to him that this necklace was the one my father had bought my mother when they had wed. My mother hadn't wanted a ring that could easily get lost while working. So he had gotten them matching pendants for their wedding instead of rings. My mother's was the one that I held. I then told him I was planning to give it to the queen mother. I sat there waiting for his reply. He opened the box and picked up the necklace inspecting it under the lamplight in the carriage. He turned it this way and that looking at it from all angles. Then placed it neatly back in the box. He turned to me and said, "Mother will love this. She loves one of a kind jewelry."
