章 42: A start of dealing with my past 2
We reached before a tall MNC company which was boldly depicting the name of my past " THE CHARLEY CORPORATION". I braced myself and thought in my head " he will never recognize me and if he does I will make sure that he never takes my name. I was lost in my thoughts that I didn't notice the stare that was projected my way. Damon cleared his throat to gain her attention and told her to be attentive in the meeting because the deal was important for him and he won't tolerate any kind of misbehave. Well, Alena got a little nervous on his instructions but soon gain calm because it was a battle for her which she has to win at any cost.
They entered a long conference room which consists of a long rectangular table present at the center of the room surrounded by various chairs. It was a huge room with lots of lights and a big screen. Damon sat opposite to the head chair and I sat beside him silently. Soon Charles along with his assistant joined the meeting and everyone greeted him well, I was the exception. But, Damon can't stand my silence and introduced me to him by saying " she is my most talented assistant".
Charles looked at me like he was trying to find something I stared into his eyes and said: " Umm...Hello, I am Alena, nice to meet you, Mr. Charley". He seemed little offended at my greetings, must be because I called him by his full name and I know very well he doesn't like to be called by his full name but I did it deliberately.
After all the bad memories he has left within me serves him right, I will make sure to make him pay at least for the time I am here. With this thought, I smiled at him gently but no one knew the reason behind my smile. He extended his hand but before I could take it the girl came back and shake his hand in place of mine. Demon broke the awkward atmosphere by speaking "I think we should proceed with the meeting so that the deal can be finalized. With this, everyone settled down and I was the one giving a presentation. At first, I was nervous but soon I catch the pace and completed my theory and research. After 1 minute if silence everyone applauded me with claps and appreciation and finally we got the deal. Damon and Charles shook a hand and signed the contract.
After that, they decided to have lunch together and I was also dragged along with them. We went to the nearest high-class hotel and sat in a luxurious looking cabin. Charles told me" you were good with the points and so order whatever you like". I simply nodded and said " thanks" in low voice.
Damon asked them " why are you marrying again? To which the woman beside Charles got excited and said: " we marry every year on our anniversary so that we can be bound forever, it has become a tradition for us". After saying this she hooks her arms with him and smiled gently. But, I was feeling nauseous and called out the waiter completely ignoring them.
I ordered "chicken dumplings along with fried noodles and mustard dip". Before I could say more Charles spoke " why do you like chicken dumplings with fried noodles and mustard dip?
I was shocked at his questioning and thought " oh I ordered the dish which I use to eat with him". Before I could speak for me, her woman said "please don't mind him, he is allergic to dumplings, proceed in your ordering process. She gave a serious look to Charles and ordered her part. We all completed our orders and soon the dishes arrived. Seeing my favorite I was on cloud nine and before I could begin my survey on foods he said " you look so excited by seeing the food, are you that hungry?
I turned at him and said " why do you care? and started serving dishes to my plate and out of habit I murmured my thanksgiving process and started digging one by one every food item. Well the men before me seemed surprised while the woman was in a complete shock and asked " how can you eat so much, do you want to get fat? I almost choked on my food but calmed myself and said "don't worry chickens don't make me fat" and continued eating. But someone there was completely lost in some sort of thoughts.
