章 30: A very tasty piece of news 2
In just a day Lin Qiaolian's life had completely fallen apart all because she had stumbled into something she shouldn't have.
She had quit her job after being wrongly accused of theft. She had angrily left the refusing to stay there any longer not when everyone assumed she had stollen the diamond bracelet.
She didn't even bother staying to here the final verdict she already knew that it would not be in her favor not when Feng Mimi and her other cohorts had everyone fooled.
After announcing that she had quit, she packed up her things and left the set. On her way back to her apartment she stopped by the convenience shop a few blocks away and bought some alcohol.
She had such a crappy day and right now all she wanted was to forget everything that happened even if it was for one night. She just wanted one night to that she wouldn't be prague by all that happened of late.
One night where she didn't spend the whole night in bed thinking of all her problems as opposed to sleeping. The next day she would face everything head on.
As soon as she got home she dropped her bags and dived right into the main course of the night.
She didn't bother checking her phone no matter how long it rang, she wanted a total radio silence from everyone. She wasn't in the mood to talk. She drank until late in the night when she finally fell asleep.
The next morning she woke up hung over with a splitting headache and a strong need to throw up. by mid morning she finally began to feel a lot better, the headache had subsided and she wasn't feeling nauseous anymore. Her head had began to clear when her phone began to ring.
She jumped up quickly which made her feel a little bit light headed but she ignored it all and walked over to where she had dropped her bag the night before and fished out her phone. It was a call from her fiance Liang Chen's mother, she coughed to clear her throat and answered the call.
"Hello mother"
"Where have you been we have been trying to reach you since yesterday"
"Sorry I have been so busy my phone wasn't close by"
"Come over to the house immediately" She said and cut the call not bothering to wait for a response.
Her Fiance Liang Chen came from a family of lawyers and like his father was a upcoming lawyer. His came from a family of government officials, his father was a high ranking official in the ministry of Justice.
She had met Liang Chen while in school he was her senior in the University. They had fallen in love and began dating for four years now. She had already met his parents for the first time after he had proposed to her a year ago but his mother had never liked her.
She hadn't exactly made it a secret that she was totally against their marriage and would prefer that her son married a woman of the same class as them.
Liang Chen's family may not be among the high society but they were quite wealth and influencial in their own right. Liang Chen's parents had always wanted to become members of the highest levels of high society so His parent saw his relationship with her as a distraction that is coming between them achieving their dream by arranging a marriage between him and a wealthy young Miss.
After the call was disconnected Lin Qiaolian quick washed up, got dressed and took a taxi over to Liang Chen's family house.
The taxi came to a stop just infront of the house and after paying her fare she came down, walked over to the front door and rang the doorbell.
The door was opened by the family's middle aged housekeeper who let her into the house.
"Madam Miss Lin has arrived" the housekeeper said.
"Qiaolian come in" Madam Yu said.
Lin Qiaolian walked in to the room smiling softly even though she knew that it would never make a difference. Madam Yu and her future father-in-law were both seated in the room when she came in.
"Mother, father how are you" Lin Qiaolian said still standing.
"Hmph did you think that we would never find out just what kind of woman you are" Madam Yu said.
"What kind of woman I am? I don't understand" Lin Qiaolian replied.
"Please don't act like you are innocent. we both know you are not, we already have prove" she threw a bunch of photographs at Lin Qiaolian feet.
Even though Lin Qiaolian had a feeling about this. She still knelt to pick them up when she discovered that her worse nightmare since her run in with Feng Mimi was already a reality.
"What do you have to say for yourself. I can't believe we nearly welcomed someone with such an ugly past into her family. Honey Imagine would have happened if this was made public She would have completely ruined our family name and worse of all our son's future" madam Yu said turning to her husband.
She didn't need to stress how bad this discovery was, now they didn't have to take her brain anymore trying to get rid of her. This just solves all their problem luckily their son also sees eye to eye with them.
After working for sometime he now understood the merits of having solid connections with good families.
"No no no mother the photos aren't real they were doctored. It isn't me in the nudes" she said tearfully.
Feng Mimi really didn't wish to let her off easily. She had already ruined her career why would she still do this to her. What did she have to gain, this was must definitely her way of proofing a point
. "But you did date him didn't you" Madam Yu said.
"Yes but you have to believe me mother I had no idea he was engaged" She pleaded.
"I was right about you after all. you are just a gold digger, you tried to hold on to his coat tails and when that didn't work you turned to my Liang Chen. Don't ever approach my son, I don't want you to come close to him or else. Aunt Li please get rid of this" madam Yu said handing the pictures over to the housekeeper to burn them.
"Mother please it's not how it looks. I had no idea that he was engaged" Lin Qiaolian said tearfully moving forward on her knees and holding onto the ends of Madam Yu's gown.
"Don't you dare call me mother, I don't know you and I never will. Let go" Madam Yu said dragging her clothes out of her hand. Lin Qiaolian was tearfully denying the accusation when q make and female voice said
"father, mother we are back". She quickly turned and looked up to see Liang Chen holding onto a beautiful young lady's hands.
"Liang Chen" she said in a low tone.
"Liang Chen and Ying Yue your back how was the trip. You must have already picked the ring" Madam Yu said smiling.
"Yes mother we have" Liang Chen said smiling softly.
"Mm that right Lin Qiaolian meet Ying Yue my future daughter-in-law" Madam Yu said smiling.
"Hello" Lin Qiaolian said wiping her tears quickly.
"Hello and you are" Ying Yue said.
"A gold digger that has been trying to fool my Liang Chen. luckily my Liang Chen is too smart to be fooled and has already seen her for what she is. Unfortunately she has been quite persistent but not anymore. I have finally put her in her place" Madam Yu replied.
"Oh my" Ying Yue replied surprised.
"Madam Yu I am so sorry to disturb you. I will get going" Lin Qiaolian said and hightailed out of there with speed like the devil was on her trail her. She didn't wish to be embarrassed further
