"Do you think our real parents are out there looking down on us?" Leena could feel Linx's presence move closer to her. "I know you're upset with some of the things I've done but I can't help you with that Linx. I have to do what I have to do, no one can stand in the way of that."
Leena still hadn't turned over to look at Linx but she could hear his sigh. "I won't ask you to stop what you're doing. I just worry."
Leena nods. "I know." She finally turned around to stand face to face with Linx's handsome face. "I can take care of myself."
This statement angered Linx, just because she can take care of herself doesn't mean she should push him away. He wanted to leave but he couldn't. He just accepted her words. "I believe our parents are smiling at how much we have grown."
"How much we've grown? I don't even earn money." Leena laughed. It was the first time he had seen her let her guard down and completely unleash her laugh. Everything around them always made things difficult to be comfortable but she was letting go of her worries with him, it was refreshing.
"Well.. that may be true but nothing changes the way a person lives their family." It was tough for Linx to know. He was a homeless kid with no parents and no one before he met the Fei family. He didn't think about his biological parents very often, he was grateful for what he did have.
Leena didn't say anything, she smiled and stared up at the night sky. "When do you think we will find peace?" When Leena started this journey to pursue the stones it was to find peace in this other world where she found herself having more problems.
"Peace will come when our tasks are finished." Leena and Linx looked over at Clain and Kavira standing at the front followed the rest of the group. Eric and Kreighton remained behind, one was married with kids and one was about to be married. This journey was also no longer theirs.
Logan stood out from the group, he wasn't like the rest of them who had joined together or even considered understanding the situation they were in.
"Peace is but a thought. There are too many diverse people on any world for you to simple want peace." The fortune teller was direct. He didn't mean to be rude but it was the truth of what he knew. "Just smile when you can, that is the best advice I can give you."
Kavira glanced over at Leena. They may have two halves of the same soul but for some reason, they didn't feel the same. She took a few steps forward and hugged Leena. "You're not alone."
It was difficult to believe that. Leena had a blood cousin who hated and loved her, she didn't have any parents and she also didn't have the man she loved. Having this new group of friends was definitely different.
"Thank you." Leena closed her eyes and before she knew it everyone huddled around to join in on the hug except for Logan and the dwarf. It made her cry like a child. Almost every single one of them hard their own hardship stories but neither of them had turned their back on her. They've watched over Kavira, who had the second half of her soul.
"My work here is done." The dwarf nodded over to Logan who responded with a simple head bow. The dwarf disappeared leaving behind a parchment and a box. Leena looked over at what was left behind.
The box the fortune teller left appeared familiar, maybe something she had lost? Leena strolled on over after everyone moved away, she picked up the box turning it over and over. Why does this look familiar?
Leena opened the small box and inside was a ring with an amber stone. Izak.
Years ago Izak gave her this ring, Amira had found out about it and took it away from her along with her memories of it. Leena's eyes teared up.
"What is it?" Nyla was of course curious, Leena was being usually quiet. "It's a ring." Leena laughed and the tears started to pour down her face. "It's a gift."
Linx walked behind her and looked over her shoulders. Immediately he understood. "May I?" Linx took the box from her hands and walked to the front of her. He took ahold of her hand and slipped the ring onto her ring finger. "Its beautiful."
It was becoming extremely cold but Leena didn't care. Watching Linx put the ring on her finger reminded her of Izak and the way he would look while doing it. It bothered her but at the same time she enjoyed it.
"Thank you." Leena was about to out her arms around Linx when Dracon coughed from the back. "Maybe we should go inside. Wouldn't be a holiday if we freeze to death out here."
Everyone agreed and made their way inside. Linx would've taken Leena away with him but he was worried she might get sick. "Only because he has a point, but you and I have some unfinished business."
Leena smiled with specs of light in her eyes. Izak... I finally feel you. Is this really you? She looked down at the ring and then back at Linx's face. "I look forward to it."
