章 52: Akantha
Morning comes at Lerwick and Volya immediately wakes up after the sunlight reaches his face.
He looks at the window for a moment and then sighs. He can't hide his sighs because of everything that happened yesterday.
They agree with Alma's request and immediately return to their respective inn. And they went back with one of Alma's girls each.
He then looks beside him on the bed. A girl with long dark brown hair is sleeping soundly as if she believes in him.
The problem is she isn't wearing anything besides her undergarment and it shows how attractive she is, even it could make any woman jealous with her body.
Her name is Akantha Vlahos, one of the prostitutes that have been requested by Reginald Lawrence.
Volya takes a deep breath, looks at her again, and mumbles,
"I can't believe... She asked for this..."
At that moment, he feels Akantha is holding his cloth and starts to wake up. When Volya looks at her, he knows that she is still half-asleep.
Volya then smiles at her and greets her,
"Good morning, Akantha,"
"Ah... Good morning, Sir Portar..." replied Akantha, still half-asleep.
She then falls on Volya's shoulder and continues her sleep. Volya could only sigh and cover her exposed body.
At that moment, he notices something. What would happen if any of his team members knew about it?
He remembers that he, Markos, and Romain didn't mention Reginald's task to them about renting some prostitutes. And with all of them returning almost midnight and didn't meeting any of their team members, it will cause a lot of ruckus.
And he can't think about what face that will be shown by Helena and Gracia when they see it.
He then sighs once more and mumbles,
"I think... I just made a big mistake by didn't telling Helena nor Gracia about that mission. If one of them comes to this room, it will cause a lot of ruckuses,"
He then looks again at Akantha and mumbles,
"I can't hesitate about it, I must do something or it's indeed will reach something that I feared,"
He then tried to wake her up, but to no avail. He continues trying until he hears footsteps come closer to his room.
Not long after that, the knob starts to move. He starts to sweat as he knows the one who will enter the room without his permission is team members from Haegia.
Volya starts to panic and shakes her a bit. He then says panicky,
"Akantha... Please wake up!"
"Hmmm... Huh?" said Akantha half-asleep
"This is for our... No... For my reputation!"
But, it's no avail. The door opened with Gracia stands there and says,
"Volya! Did you know that Romain is bringing a prostitute to his... room..."
Gracia shows a surprised face before changing to a smile. She then says while smiling,
"Ah... Please take your time, Volya..."
"Wait... I can explain it!" replied Volya a bit panicked
Gracia starts to walk back slowly and closes the door. Volya starts to fall on the ground and says,
"MY REPUTATION!!!!"
At the same time, he hears a giggle from his back. Akantha is smiling at him and says,
"My... She is too pure..."
"So you are already wake up, Akantha," said Volya
"Fufufufu... How do you think about my acting, Sir Portar?" asked Akantha
"Too good to be true... and annoying," replied Volya as he started to stand up.
He then walks towards Akantha and she immediately says,
"My... Are you going to..."
"Yes... I am..." said Volya
Akantha looks at Volya for a moment and prepares for what Volya will do to her.
Volya then takes a blanket and puts it as her cover. He then says,
"To see someone beautiful like you half-naked like this is unsightly... It's better if you cover your body a bit, Akantha,"
"My... You are a gentleman," replied Akantha
"Well... My father always said to respect woman, even though not many males do the same,"
"Fufufufufu... What an obedient child,"
Akantha then stands up while covering her body with a blanket given by Volya. Meanwhile, Volya sits at a chair and looks at some of the paper in front of him.
Akantha walks to the wardrobe and changes her clothes. At that moment, Volya asks her,
"Why did Lady Taylor emphasize protecting you girl from Reginald?"
"Hmmm? Are you intrigued?" asked Akantha
"More or less... Yes..."
Akantha smiles a bit at Volya and only giggles. Until he asks,
"Does this have a connection with Lady Taylor?"
"What do you mean?"
"When I am visiting her office room... I smell... Death..." replied Volya without looking at Akantha
Akantha peeks at Volya, smiles at him, and says,
"Well... I think you should ask her yourself, no?"
"You... you are right..." replied Volya
"And please remember... As Mother Taylor always said to us... Curiosity will kill the cat,"
"..."
Volya closes his eyes and then continues,
"Why I have a feeling that Lady Taylor also aiming for the same prey as us,"
"Hmmm... Maybe just your imagination,"
"Maybe..."
Volya immediately stands up and says,
"All of this overwork seems to already take its toll on my body... With the addition of this morning accidents, I think I'm exhausted mentally,"
"Oh my... Did you need my service? For your first time, maybe I will do it for free," said Akantha as she teases Volya a bit,

Volya only smiles after hearing that answer and then says,

"I believe you will find Romain and I quite fast... The atmosphere there will be deadly..." said Volya as he already thinks what Helena and Gracia will say later,

"Then, I will walk first... I need to meet Romain for an additional plan," said Volya as he opens the door and closes the door,

Akantha smiles at the door and her face immediately changes when she sees a white dove at the window. She could see that there was a message on its leg. She walks to the bird, takes the message, and reads it.
After a while, she takes a paper and writes,
"He starts to suspect us,"
She then puts the messages on the dove's leg and lets them fly away. She then continues,
"I wonder... Whether Sir Portar is our allies or our enemy now..."
Akantha closes her eyes for a moment and starts to giggle. She then says,
"Well... Let's observe him for a while... I believe someone who been born with a silver spoon like him will be interesting,"
She then looks at the table for a moment and smiles. After that, she leaves the room to meet and tease Volya and Romain at the canteen together with her friend.
