After our battle with the criminals at the abandoned factory, I was taken to a recovery centre so that my wounds would heal. It didn't take much time and in about a week my wounds were almost healed. The other's didn't have that serious of a wound, so they got a leave earlier then me and Ilora didn't even have a scratch on her. Damn, they are strong as hell. I wonder what my magic element is going to be. Whatever it is, I am going to be getting today when I meet the headmaster along with the sub-squad I had.
At the headmaster's office,
I reach the headmaster's office and see that the other 4 members of the squad are already here. "Hey, how's it been new kid?" Mr. Daniel who stands near the door to the headmaster's office asks me. "I have almost fully recovered." I reply. "I still feel a little pain in my ribs but...Other then that I can move like I used to before." I continue. "It's understandable why your ribs are still in pain. Even with that armour plate, you had broken ribs and plus it takes almost 2 months in general for them to heal. I am surprised with recovery magic your ribs healed so quickly." Mr. Daniel says to me. "Should've stayed in the bed, idiot." I heard that whisper but who said that...
The door opens and headmaster arrives to the office. He looks at us and smiles. "Good to know you all are okay." He says to us. Ilora eyes the headmaster with an angry stare. The headmaster smiles and takes his seat. "Good job everyone, now that everyone is back from the mission, let's speak about a letter I sent the council considering to make you all the official students of a knights academy." The headmaster says. "I got a reply from them really quickly and I have to say this, the letter puts on quite an interesting term for you all 20 kids." He continues. "What do you mean?" I ask. "You have 6 months to prepare for an academic tournament. If one of you 20 kids make it to the top 8 of Rodeo's academic tournament then, the council shall grant you the right to be officially registered novice knights." The headmaster says. "That's all I have got." With those words everyone has a smile on their face except for Ilora. Jeez, why does she have to be so cold?
"MAN! THIS MEANS WE NEED TO INFORM EVERYONE IN THE CLASS ABOUT THIS!" Jacob says. "WHAT?! Everyone in the class?!" The headmaster questions. "You see...ahhh...Everyone already knew about this whole non-registered thing...." The headmaster looks confused by what Jacob just says and I am not surprised by it. I mean, who wouldn't know about it when the whole academy knows about it.
"Now, if anyone who has any questions can stay. The rest can take their leave. Also, Henry, it's time for you to know your element." The headmaster says to me. "Alright, we will take our leave headmaster!" Ashley says cheerfully. She seems to be quite happy. Everyone leaves but Jacob whispers something in my ears, "Hey buddy, the rooftop, tonight at 8." He gives me a huge smile and leaves. "Its very rare for them to smile like that, good job kid." Mr. Daniel pats my head. "And thank you for doing what I couldn't." I know I didn't see it but...I felt it...That happiness in his voice as he left the room. "See you in the class kid." Mr. Daniel says to me as he walks out. "Yes sir." I say to him. "Oh boy, you are quite a nasty kid you know." The headmaster says to me. "What?!" I look confused. "You know kid, I haven't seen anyone in Rizing this happy before. It's nothing short of a miracle." The headmaster says to me. "Let's get to business, shall we?" The headmaster asks me. "Yes sir." I reply.
That machine from other day. "This machine reads your mana and determine what kind of mana it is because you come to know what the mana is made of then you know what the element you hold is. That's what the machine basically does. Reads your mana and determines your element." The headmaster explains to me. I didn't even ask about it but I guess I was going to anyways. "What's your element, headmaster?" I ask. The headmaster looks at me and smiles. "Mine...Let's see...You will know someday for sure." He says to me.
The machine that indicates my element begins to lightens up. I cover my eyes by throwing both my hands in front of my face. "Interesting, that's the first time the machine begin to light up like that." The headmaster says to me. The light begins to fade away. "Your element has been found." The headmaster says with a smile. I look at the machine. "Your magic is...Creation magic." The headmaster says. "Creation magic? What's that?" I ask. "It's the most basic magic of all. Basically, it means you can create things but you can only create things things based on your mana." The headmaster says to me. "Based on my mana?" I ask. "Right now, you have a mana of 7774 which is written right over here on the machine." The headmaster points at the machine which says 7774 mana power on the top and below it says creation magic. Both written in red. "Which means your a perfect candidate for a novice knight or also known as a D-rank knight." The headmaster continues. "So that means I can only use creation magic to create things which cost me 7774 mana power or less?" I ask. "For now, yes but who knows what you can create in the future." The headmaster says to me. "Why don't you give it a try right now?" The headmaster asks me to use my magic. "I have no idea how to do it...I mean I don't even know any of the enchants...How am I supposed to use my magic then?" I ask. "Didn't I say that creation magic is the most basic magic of all of them?" The headmaster smiles and asks me. "Yeah..." I say. "So, basic doesn't only mean that it takes up less mana or is for people who want to train but...It also means you have no spells to use because you are creating things by your imagination, not by your enchantments." The headmaster says to me. "Now you understand?" The headmaster asks me. "Yes." I reply. "Then use it." The headmaster says to me with a smile.
I close my eyes and begin to imagine something. Imagine something huh? What can I imagine that doesn't exceed my mana...? A sword? A gun? Nah...That's too common. A dragon! What am I thinking. I don't want to kill off everyone in the school and I think so that comes in the summoning tree not the creation tree. Wait...Back then...Ilora used that thing on Jacob...What if...That's right what if I use creation magic to create hands which throw those spiky ice blades. Suddenly, hands holding blades fly out both my sides from my spine. "That's....genius...More hands...I couldn't have even imagine you could think something like that." The headmaster says to me. But I was hoping for icy spike blades like Ilora's but I guess I don't have the affinity to use ice, so it makes sense why I couldn't create something made of ice. That one move took a lot out of me. The hands disappear after a while. I feel exhausted after using my magic. "Good job, kid." The headmaster says to me. "I hope you use your magic for the goodness of others and for your selfish reasons." The headmaster says to me with a smile. "Yes sir." I say. "You can take your leave now." The headmaster says to me.
Night at 8,
I remember Jacob calling me to the rooftop but I don't know why. I open the door to the rooftop.
*CRACK*
*BURST*
What's happening here? Everyone is bursting stuff like it's a birthday party. Even Mr. Daniel are here...No! The whole class is here...They all are smiling at me. Mr. Daniel walks up to me. He pats my head again. "Today is the day my students take the first step towards being knights and it all thanks to you new kid..." Mr. Daniel shakes his head. "It's thanks to you Henry." Mr. Daniel says. "That's right man, Jacob told us all about how you stood up for us." A man with big lips says to me. Well that's the only thing I could notice. "Yeah, no one would ever take a stand for a thief like me." A girl with short pink hair says to me. Everyone is appreciating me...But... "You guys are celebrating too early!" I say. Everyone looks confused. "You are wrong, don't you dare thank me because we haven't become knights yet. Our teacher is right, today is just our first step towards being knights. I know you all failed many times, have committed crimes that you didn't mean to commit or had to for some reason or even have been ignored for too long but..." I bow down. "I ask you all that when the academic tournament arrives in 6 months time...We must not only make it to top 8 but win that tournament." I say.
I hear a chuckle and followed by that are the sounds of other people bursting out in laughter. Even, Mr. Daniel is laughing. "Huh?! What's happening...?" I question. "Hey Henry, you really are capable of being the class's leader." A girl with orange pony-tail says to me. "Yeah, totally agreed." Jacob says as he bursts out. "Huh? What's happening?!" I ask. "Kid, you need to chill. My students...Already plan to win that son of a gun and it's good coming from you too but..." Erica interrupts Mr. Daniel, "Your a little too late, Mr. Leader." Everyone begins to agree we Erica. "Hey, I have an idea, we should have Henry be our class's vice-captain." A guy with glasses says and bedded black hair says. "Totally agreed." The guy with big lips agrees. "What's a vice captain?" I ask. "I am the squad's captain...So that means your...the vice-captain and you can't deny it. I agree with the students...I feel like you have the potential to be an amazing vice-captain." Mr. Daniel says to me with a smile. "That's enough talk...All my students today we...PARTY!!!!" Mr. Daniel says as he cheers his beer and everyone has...Different flavoured juices....? HUH?! What is this a mixed flavoured party?!
After a long while and finally when my classmates leave me alone. I go to a quite place. I realised something, Ilora wasn't at the party. I go down and decide to go back to my dorm. On my way out...Ilora stood there with her eyes closed, her hands fold and her back to the lamp there. "Hey..." I call her out. "Thanks..." She says. "Thanks...For what though?" I ask. "You know...I could have screwed this mission up pretty badly if you hadn't stopped me back then. Thanks for that and also for trusting me. It's rare these days." Ilora says to me. "I will be going now." Ilora says and leaves. Why do I feel like even her thanks was cold?
"Being a knight means a lot to her. It's been her dream since she was a kid, Mr. Leader." That voice...I will recognise it anytime, anywhere. I turn around and look at Erica arrive. "I guess you could say she has taken interest in you Mr. Leader." Erica says to me. "What's with your smug look?" I ask Erica. "Nothing, just great to see a childhood friend making a friend finally." Erica says to me as she waves a goodbye and leaves. What's with all these puzzles and riddles? Why can't people just get to their point? Childhood friend huh? Why do I feel like they are childhood enemies more then friends? I shake my head holding my hand against it. Just then something struck me...I wonder...How mom is?...Is she even...Alive...?
