章 45: Fear As Your Heart Beats

"Y/N?"

At the loud sound of glasses crashing in the background, inevitably, the male had flinched on the other side. The phone had shaken in his hand, he had almost screamed the name.

"Y/N!"

Hoseok peered in through the doorway, his headphones were hanging down nestling around his neck, "What happened, Jiminnie?" He looked with concern at the younger.

It was still in call. There came no more sound from the other side. Jimin stood up. Hoseok looked at him, "Jimin?" spoke he, confused.

"Where are you going?" His yell was unheard, the male had already rushed to their living room.

"Get your jacket at least dude, it's cold outside!" The door banged at the sound of his voice. The living room was empty.

Y/N's P.O.V:-

I stepped gingerly on the floor with bare feet. One or two slivers of glass were glistening with the faint light source from outside, countless similars were scattered on the floor. I kicked the blanket off and out, for it being thick would prevent a wound from any shard. None of the switches worked, the power was cut off. In the darkness, I had lost track of my own room. The phone was lost in a crevice somewhere.

"When you face something like that again, the first thing you do is run. Save yourself."

When eyes are blinded with blackness entity, other senses go sharper. My ears now could hear the smallest sound of bugs walking, the smallest sound of the posse of two or more people who gathered through the doorway one by one. My nose could smell the dusky, heavy scent of a man thinly dispersed into the air molecules. The figures were standing like night creatures, they wanted to complete their task with no use of hand and arms and no voice.

A long moment passed when the time felt like on hold, nothing happened and none of the people buzzed a bit. I was waiting. They were waiting.

The room was apparently empty of a soul as I hid. They were standing still, I knew their eyes were scanning the whole innard around. If they had thought there was no one hiding in here, they would have left already for a further rummage around the house.

They knew I was here, hiding. Certain of it.

Two shadows moved. I heard them proceed. They started with the closet. Clothes with hangers flew outside and the door banged open and close too soon. They pulled down the curtains and they were thrown on the mattress. The door was open, a good thing. It was dark all the way through, and they weren't using flashlights. One of the figures was standing nearby there, but still, I had the faintest chance to get through. I held in my breath and decided to take the chance.

I crawled, one second, two seconds, one step, two steps, pause, ten steps, I gushed out the held air. I was out.

The staircase was a battle in the no-light situation, but I stumbled my way down.

Gentle breeze inundated the living room up until the stair side. The main door was wide open, unsecured. The curtains danced, tiny rattles sounded. My backside was frozen with the lash of zephyr from upstairs through the bedroom. As I took a step forward, the frostiness appeased. My back started to retain warmth. I looked back, a clamp had darkened at the zone of the threshold, that was not there before. And it could move.

They found me.

A quick screech of tires of a car pulling beside the gate vaguely reached my ears. Pain struck on my roots as I was pulled back by the hair, I immediately shrieked. More than the pain was felt, higher than I could on the top of my lungs. Only intention was, get heard.

The backward force diminished sooner by a sudden jolt, I lost my balance and trudged forward. My vision had turned hazy from the effect of pain, it took seconds for me to look back. I did, while the silence had clashed with awful screamings of men's voices behind. I could see vaguely, but I did discern an eerie new figure that wasn't here before, emerged out of nowhere and now each time he moved, a groan howled, a body dropped on the ground.

A small amount of light flickered for a short second upon the face. My eyes blinked. Surprised.

Jimin?

He moved faster than the light, his hands were stronger like that of Thor's hammer, his eyes were bloodshot the redness of which appeared monotone in the dim light but his ire was visible.

"Step back!" He yelled and I felt a tug on my hand, as I was thrown on the sofa. A guy slipped past my previous position, falling on the ground and squirmed in pain. There was a collision of metals, glasses scratching against each other. I took a hint, jolted up and in the dark, I found the male, my hand immediately gripped his rapid meteoric arms.

"Stop!" I called. He looked back at me. My hand grabbed his hand tighter that held whatever, I knew if he touched anyone now, they would be no less than dead. Anything but bloodshed I could deal of right now, I jerked his hand to let go of the thing.

"That's enough now," I said. He tried to release his hand off from mine, but I held back, "No. Don't. I beg, please."

"You were on the line, how could you reach here so fast? I-" I was almost losing balance as his arms tightly pulled into the space, was about to fall with him alongside me. My eyes widened utterly. His face slumped onto my shoulder, his nose scrunched onto the strap of my fabric. A rush of breath effused from his lips, fanning my loose hair locks. His chest heaved up and down once. I felt his fast heartbeat. Afraid. And worried. And...

"I thought they got you." He whispered. I lightly placed my hands against his chest. "Jimin...?" My voice came out rather as a whisper.

"I-" My tongue hushed, finding nothing to speak, my hands laid limply on two sides confused whether I should hold onto. He pulled me closer, his moving hair strands poked onto my neck giving a shiver. I stood in a murk of ambivalence. In wonder. My core felt blank, my surrounding disappeared to a ringing sound buzzing back and forth. The rhythms of two heartbeat waves were so homogenous, they could superimpose, a standing wave that arose with one systole of his, one diastole of mine. My hands tingled to get a touch, a touch of his skin, how his hair felt, the crystals of his sweats forming over his neck, the way his sodden shirt stuck to his back, I wanted to touch all of that, all of him. The recessive passion innard was a betrayal, I was being treacherous with myself. I was afraid if he could sense mine, beating just like him, but for different reason.

Time went uncounted until he let go of me. My body felt freezing without his warmth, it wanted to crawl back to his. I realized the fists my hands that had balled to, I released them and blew out the breath I discovered I had held back this whole time. His eyes met mine, half curtained in the darkness, half tangible in the light, then he spoke huskily, almost inaudible but firm.

"Are you okay?"

I feebly nodded. He looked around the house, then he looked back at me. It seemed like he was in a dilemma about something, but now he had reached an answer.

"C'mon." He grabbed my wrist. I was unprepared, "Wait what?" He climbed upstairs and motioned me to pick up a jacket. I couldn't guess what he was thinking, but I did as he said anyway. Then he grabbed me again and we were climbing down the staircase to the living room.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"Jimin?" The male had no reply, not until he escorted me to the passenger seat of the car parked outside, he took over the driver's and belted,

"You can't live alone. You need to be in a safer place."
