Many of the SDF guards are now hiding in a cover on the walls, since talking with the people below while you are on the wall is subject to them shooting you down from where you are standing. It would be much better to just hide and keep yourself safe while you confront them.

The ruffians are trying to break the metal door we use as gates to open them, though they have no luck in bringing the gate down, they are persistent so if we don't do anything, they can eventually pull it off.

Although they are already ready to shoot the ruffians down, they didn't shoot them yet as they are not the undead yet and killing them might result in some sort of trouble. But as soon as they heard their demands, the other SDF soldiers are already holding the last line of their patience to shoot them down.
