章 12: Unexpected Visit
As James got back to realization, he tried to stand up, yet the exhaustion of last day's battle still had a toll on him. He still tried his best to at least sit up straight. Using all his powers, he managed to sit straight against the frame of the bed.
James still tried to bow in a sitting position. "My liege, I am sorry I couldn't show proper etiquette, as yesterdays event took a greater toll on me than I had expected." James said a bit blushing.
Laughter could be heard from the prince. "Don't worry. I have noticed that you have put a lot of strain on yesterday's fights. Therefore you are excused from showing any proper etiquette." Gerald said with a smile. "Actually, I am here to congratulate you on your achievements and thank you for them. For this, I already have given command that after The Months of Demons is done, that you will be compensated appropriately."
Gerald's words were filling James with excitement and happiness. Being personally visited and congratulated by the first prince was something that he only could only dream of. Gerald continued, "Moreover, I would like to move you from your current place to a more comfortable location. This is not a place where a courageous warrior as you should stay. Tomorrow Sir Edward will assign you to your new room.
Having said these words, Gerald stood up and walked towards the door. At the doorframe he waited for a second before turning around and saying, "Before I forget, tomorrow you should go to the infirmary, to cure your wounds. Afterwards, you should rest for the day, you have been through a lot and are still needed in later moments of the battles."
After saying these words, Gerald left the room, leaving Sir Edward in the room alone with James. The serious face of Sir Edward changed in a more friendly face. "Good work kid, you sure have made me proud today." Sir Edward said with a smile. "If you keep it up like this, I am sure that in the end of our expedition here, that you will have gained enough prestige and credit to become an inner circle knight to the first prince. I will be looking forward for that moment." Sir Edward tapped on the back of James before also turning around and leaving the room.
Holding in the pain from his wounds, James said with a happy voice, "Thank you Sir. I will continue to make you proud and also hope to fight besides you in the future."
As Sir Edward left the room, James could not hold back his happiness and started to laugh uncontrollably. Today is the best day in his life. Having achieved all these achievements, as a knight he could not be more proud.
Putting his head back onto his pillow, he closed his eyes again with a huge smile on his face.

In the morning, James had the best sleep he ever had. Standing up in a rush, he was scared that what happened during the night was all a dream. Trying to rushing outside, but being held back by his wounds, he slowly made his way to the courtyard. Standing there ready to leave the barracks was Sir Edward. James walked towards Sir Edward to confirm what happened yesterday was not just a dream.
Noticing James walking towards him, Sir Edward's face eased up and he smiled towards James. Seeing this smile, the heavy burden in the heart of James lightened up. He knew that moment that what happened yesterday was not a dream and the prince indeed had visited him.
Arriving in front of Sir Edward, James tried to find a topic for approaching him. At that moment he just said what was in his heart, "Sir, I wish you good luck on your battles of today. Thank you for everything you did for me."
Seeing the agreeable nod of Sir Edward, James turned around moving towards the infirmary.
