章 9: Royal Library

If the Royal Library could only be described by one word except royal, it would be grand. There were rows upon rows of bookshelves that seem to go on endlessly and this was just the first floor. These bookshelves were made of white marble and had some gold decal on the edges.

In the center of the library there was a circular area that was about 100 yards in diameter that went through all floors. That's where the seating area and the stairs are located. The only way to get to the other floors is by using the staircase which was also guarded.

Each level had a different requirement to enter.

The first floor, every upper class people go could in. This included rich merchants and wealthy families.

The second floor only nobles were allowed. Starting with the lowest types of nobility, the barons.

The third floor, only earls or higher nobility could enter.

The fourth floor, only marquess or higher nobility could enter.

Then the final floor, only dukes or higher nobility could enter.

So Xander could enter the final floor if he wanted, even though he's now regarded as a trash can, he is still the prince of the kingdom.

But Xander didn't go all the way up to the last floor, he only went to the third. The first and second floor had all the information regarding the Vega Kingdom and the lands around it. Starting from the third floor, that's where information that's not about the Vega Kingdom is located.

Every time Xander went up a level, the guards would let him go pass. Everyone knew Xander, especially now, being branded as the biggest disappointment of the kingdom. After passing through the 2 groups of guards, Xander made it to the third floor.

Xander went to find the monster bookshelf area, which had tons of books about monsters that weren't located in Vega. Even though the monster bookshelf area, was one of the many types of areas in the library, it was still the biggest one, about 30% of the whole level. All Xander had to look for was the biggest group of bookshelves were.

The monster area was divided into many more mini areas. The one Xander was looking for is the serpent category.

After a couple of minutes of searching, Xander finally found the serpent category. Which was filled with tons of different snake monster books.

After 30 minutes of checking the serpent category on the third floor, Xander couldn't find anything about the Dark Curse Snake.

'F*ck there's nothing. I hope it's in one of these floors.' After finding nothing on the third floor, Xander went up to the next.

After another 30 minutes, 'Does no one know anything about the Dark Curse Snake.' Xander still couldn't find anything so he went up to the fifth and final floor of the Royal Library. 'It has to be in this floor.'

The fifth level wasn't as big as any of the previous levels because it didn't have that much books. Instead of having thousands of bookshelves, the fifth floor only had around 100. These bookshelves were even made of gold, full golden bookshelves.

After finding the monster area on the fifth floor and looking through thousands of book spines, Xander finally found what he was looking for. On the spine of a grey book, were the words Dark Curse Snake.

'Finally I found it.'

Picking the book out from the bookshelf, Xander noticed how thick the book was. 'Holy Shit, it's about three inches thick. This is going to take me awhile to read.'

Opening to the first page, Xander saw a drawing of the Dark Curse Snake. It looked just like Xanders transformation.

After the first page was tons of information about the Dark Curse Snake.

The Dark Curse Snake is an ancient serpent species that are already extinct. Even though they were an ancient species, they were still one of the weakest monsters during that time. Even now, the Dark Curse Snake could still be one of the weaker monsters in Vega. The Dark Curse Snake could only become a 0-star mid tier monster.

Monsters and beasts have abilities depending on their rank. A 0-star monster could only have one ability unless it's mutated. A 1-star monster could only have two abilities unless it's mutated, and so on and so on. But being an ancient species, the Dark Curse Snake has an extra ability, a curse at that. So Dark Curse Snakes are considered to be as strong as 0-star high rank, maybe even weak top rank monsters if it was mutated.

There was also information about where the Dark Curse Snakes lived before they were extinct. All the Dark Curse Snakes lived in the eastern part of the Dragon Empire. They lived in dark places such as dense forests and swamps.

On the back end of the book, there was information about the Dark Curse Snakes family tree. The Dark Curse Snake is an ancient species but was all the way in the bottom of the family tree since it was one of the weaker and the last species of ancient snakes. There were only about 5 other serpents that were under the Dark Curse Snake and two of them were familiar to Xander.

One of the Snakes was his previous transformation, the Shadow Snake. The Shadow Snake was the byproduct of snakes being born with a diluted bloodline. With these snakes growing up and mating, more and more Shadow Snakes were being born, diluting the Dark Curse Snake bloodline. This eventually made Dark Curse Snakes extinct.

The other snake that Xander noticed was the Vega families Emerald Poison Snake.

After seeing the snake Xander was surprised. The Emerald Poison Snake was the byproduct of another snake. A snake born from a Shadow Snake and another serpent, the Black Death Cobra.

The Black Death Cobra is a sovereign in the far east side of the Dragon Empire. The serpent could become a 3-star top tier monster.

'How the f*ck can a weak Shadow Snake mate with a Black Death Snake. A Shadow Snake would probably die just by looking at a Black Death Cobra.'
