Once again, the members of White Raven inside the underground room raged in anger. Another powerhouse had been beaten by some unknown vagabond. Their losses now would be higher than their gain for sure.
"How could this be? Who are those people?"
"First was that grey cloaked man. Now, this fiery beauty. Why was it that nobody had any information about these two?"
The leader of that gambling department of White Raven couldn't hold his anger any longer. He shouted toward the others as they appeared incompetent to him. Their intelligent network supposed to be unrivaled in this kingdom yet nobody knew about these two strong people.
As those people from the intelligent department maintained their silence, the white robed elder continued his rambling.
"Useless. Totally useless. Do you guys even know how to do your work?"
In a fit of rage, he slammed the door heavily as he walked back toward his previous room where the other three were waiting. The only room with the transponder pearl was just the gambling department room which he was in earlier. He rushed toward the intelligent network department room right after Mira won her match.
Once, he could still tolerate. Twice, it was beyond his limit. It happened twice in a short notice where both the powerhouses selected by the intelligent department got their asses handed to them. Even previous tournament only had one irregularity, Najibby alone.
"Should we do something behind the scene?"
Lord Arbah asked after the white robed elder entered the room. He knew that if left alone, their situation might worsen.
"If you guys have a plan, I will gladly execute it!"
The middle age man added while the black robed woman just nodded.
"It's time to move the Raven Claw!"
The white robed elder finally gave the order.
"Heh that's more like it. Count me in!"
Lord Arbah was the first to reply. He was totally in the mood to wreck things.
"We do this tonight then. As the tournament will resume tomorrow, nobody can say anything if accident happens in between right? Hahahaha."
The white robed elder laughed as he walked out of the room. His mood changed to the better once he decided to destroy those people who hindered their plan.
Two years ago, he himself led the Raven Claw and tried to make Najibby submit to them by force. In the end, they gave up midway. Nothing could be done as Najibby was also a silver ranked fighter. He fight on par with their captain hence the other member of the group could do nothing to him.
Raven Claw was a department inside White Raven which had the strongest offensive power. Their captain was a silver ranked boss class fighter, Blood Captain Mohen. Raven claw had a total of twenty five members and the weakest of them was a silver ranked fighter. They even got several gold ranked fighter in their team.
After Mira won the last fight for block C, the tournament came to a stop. Semi-finals and finals would be conducted the next day so everyone walked out from the coliseum soon after.
Mays who was together with Miur waited outside for Len and the rest before they walked together as one group. Their destination was the lodging for the tournament participant where they stayed for one week prior to this.
Just before the entrance of the lodging, Mays and the rest stopped walking when they saw three people standing there, staring at them. One man accompanied by two girls. They knew well who that man was, Najibby, the reigning champion of the martial arts tournament.
"Come with me for a bit."
He walked passed Mays and whispered to him. The three of them walked away without turning back.
Mays bid his farewell to Len and the others before he walked toward the three of them. Apparently, Najibby wanted to talk to him. He obviously wouldn't refuse this opportunities. It was rare enough for him to find another earthling like him here.
Miur watched without saying anything as Mays walked away from them. Len noticed that the young lady had something in her mind but decided not to say anything about it.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Mays and Najibby walked side by side until they entered an abandoned alleyway several meters away from the lodging. Both the kitty eared girl and the wolf eared girl followed closely behind them.
"So, you're from earth ain't you?"
Mays asked out of nowhere. He just couldn't hold it any longer.
"Whoa! That means you too then. No wonder you're strong. How do you find out by the way?"
Najibby was quite shocked. He never saw Mays before this after all.
"Your name. Its goddamn obvious hahahah. That prime minister really sucks though."
Mays laughed out loud as he explained. It was easy to tell if you already knew about it.
"Tch, no wonder. Anyways, this nickname sucks. Just call me Nej. That's how people around these parts called me. What about you?"
Despite his plain looking face, this Nej was actually a nice guy. He was quite friendly too. Mays found it hard to hate this type of people.
"For now I go by the name Mays."
"Ah, I see. By the way, meet my spirits. The kitty eared one is Kucici while the wolf eared one is Serara."
The moment Nej introduced his spirits, they both bowed down as they showed respect toward Mays. Mays smiled as the two of them stared at him. Without wasting time, Mays started questioning Nej on everything he wanted to know.
From the points when Nej accidentally ported into this world up till now, Nej told Mays about every interesting events he encountered after he came here. Mays listened to him diligently as he practically had little knowledge about the world he currently lived in.
As Nej revealed more and more information about the current world they were in, Mays nodded most of the time as a sign of acknowledgement. Nej's circumstances was more or less the same as Mays since they both entered this world quite late. There was a time where a huge number of HeavensTale player were ported here.
Upon hearing that, Mays's face stiffen. It had occurred in his thought several time before this but he just didn't want to consider it. The truth behind the disappearance of his younger brother. If what Nej had told him was all true, then his younger brother might already be in this world.
Back in earth, his younger brother had been missing for more than one month, around five week to be exact. The date of his disappearance was eighteenth of March. Second of April was the date when Nej was ported into this world and twenty third of April was Mays last day on earth.
"With a simple week to year ratio, it could be deduced easily that one week on earth equaled to one year in this world."
Mays accidentally said his hypothesis out loud.
"Whoa you're really good at calculations. What do you do back in earth?"
Nej was really impressed with Mays's deductive ability.
"Nothing awesome. I'm just a freelancer. I admit that I'm really good at math though."
Back in the real world, Mays had a decent life. He ain't a billionaire nor did he owned estates or some sort of money making business. He was just a freelancer who do odd things as long as people paid him to. At least, in his eyes, he already had what he wanted. An easy life. A life where nobody would bother with anything he did.
Despite being an engineering graduates, he excelled in programming and stuff which by some chances made him stumbled upon the dark side of the internet. As a person with high intelligent, he made money there easily by hacking and other miscellaneous task but he always kept his greed in check to ensure nothing would come biting his back.
But, karma was something that couldn't be controlled. There was always cause and effect in everything. True Mays might covered all his bad deed swiftly but nobody could say it was perfect. Even his grandfather was once a victim of his slip-up. He didn't want any bad things happened to his family member ever again.
Now that Mays confirmed that his missing brother was transported here like he was, he was relieved. Nothing extremely bad actually happened to his only family member left.
Thanks to the info he got from Nej, he was sure he would gain more info about his younger brother if he go to the capital of Holy Cloud Empire. That place was where all the others HeavensTale players gathered five years ago.
During the whole conversation, never once did Mays asked Nej about his level or other things related to his personal information. He thought that it would be rude to do so. Nej also did the same hence they didn't bother about those kind of stuff. They do realize one thing though, they could get along with each other just fine.
Just before Mays walked away from Nej, a group of people with black robe approached them. There were five of them in total. Nej had an indifferent face while Mays smiled when he saw those people. Before Mays could say something, one of them rushed toward him and hugged him right away.
"Maaaaaaaaaaaaasterrrrrrrrrrrrr!! Mira missed you sooooooooooo much!"
Nej who was nearby showed a shocked face as he recognized the person who hugged Mays just now. It was Mira, one of the contestant who qualified into semi-finals just like him and Mays.
----------------------------------------------------------------
"What level are you again?"
"Errr… Max level... one hundred?"
"WHoooAAA!!!! Sorry for my rudeness! I never knew you were such a big character!"
Nej immediately kneeled before Mays after he heard that Mays was a max level player in HeavensTale. He even cried for forgiveness for whatever reason there was. He did a one hundred eighty turnover after he knew about Mays's level.
"Stop that. What's the matter? How come suddenly you became like this?"
Mays just couldn't keep up with Nej's sudden change. He was like a completely different person now. All five of his spirits stood beside him as they were also clueless about what just happened which made Nej's behavior changed.
"Sorry I am just a level sixty three player. Please don't use violence against me."
"I wouldn't damnit! But if you keep up acting like this then I would!"
The way Nej acted started to irritate Mays. He was never planning to do anything to this guy yet he kept apologizing like a weakling. In the end, Mays resorted to a threat which actually provided him results.
"Sorry, sorry, I'll tell you everything. I said I was ported far away from here right? That Holy Cloud Empire where people from the earth gathered, I was ported near that kingdom."
Nej started talking.
"And?"
"People like us called themselves demigod there. That term actually referred to us by the local people here as we had powers way too overwhelming compared to them. As for those who got capped level, they even go to such length to call themselves god."
"Whoa. What a conceited bunch."
Mays interrupted once in a while whenever he felt like it. Nej continued his storytelling as it was still not done yet.
"They were. That Holy Cloud Empire? That empire was conquered by those bad players calling themselves god and demigod five years ago and it became their territory."
"Ok stop for a bit. That empire was controlled by a group of bad guy and you want me to go there?"
Mays butted in while his hand unconsciously smacked Nej right on his head. Mira giggled as she saw the scene. Both Nej's spirits just shook their head at the sight of their hopeless master.
"Ouch that hurts. Just listen. I'm not done yet. That, was a story from five years ago. When I got there three years ago, there were lots of changes here and there. Those bad players didn't control the empire anymore."
"Oh? Sounds interesting. Explain."
Mays showed an interest on the current topic. This was actually an information he wanted most. Before this, Nej barely told him something he didn't know yet but most of them were not so important.
"These was just things I heard from others so I don't know the credibility of these information. One year after the empire was conquered by those bad players, another group of players fought them and threw them out of the empire. They were known as The Alliance."
"I don't really know the exact details myself as which guild was the bad players or so. But I know well about The Alliance. I stayed for one month inside the empire after all."
"The Alliance was actually an alliance between four well known guilds in HeavesTale. The strongest EmpireKnight, the just SwordOfLight, the indomitable EarthForce and the sly MisfitSociety. And you know what? The one leading the subjugation was the legendary Silver Bullet Jace and Pink Demon Ria themselves!"
Nej was beyond excited when he started talking about The Alliance. He just couldn't stop admiring those players from The Alliance. He even reminisced his years back when he was caught by those bad players.
He was a good guy. He never killed people even after transporting here in this world. The worst he did was beating them. He was just unlucky because the kingdom he ported into happened to be a kingdom where a remnant of those bad players hang out.
Just when he tried to rescue some civilian from an attacking group of bandit, he was defeated by the bandit lord. Turned out that bandit lord was also a player like him with higher level. He was then brought back to their headquarters, where bad players like them gathered.
That time, he was just ported into this world for two month. He knew basically nothing about this world, the same as the current Mays. That was also the day, he learnt the hard truth about humanity.
These players who were ported here could be considered godlike. Nothing stood in their way. Even dragon was child's play to them. When this kind of strong people lose reasons of their existence, they turned bad.
Nej was held captive for almost one month. He was tortured by these bad players calling themselves god. There were at least fifty of them. Nej was their favorite torture subject as players like him had better regeneration and vitality. People from this world would just die within one day if they were tortured.
His life was a living hell. His only thought was dying. He wanted to be released from this torturous life as soon as possible. After almost one month living like that, he already gave up on his life. He just didn't care anymore. Humans could be so cruel at times.
It was then when suddenly chaos erupted at the headquarters. Apparently, the headquarters were under attack by The Alliance. As the battle concluded after a few hours, soldiers wearing silver cape walked into the torture chamber Nej was held in. These people were the subjugation force sent by The Alliance to purge those bad players.
Most of the bad players were killed but some still managed to run away. Thanks to the raid, Nej was rescued by The Alliance. He was then brought back to the Holy Cloud Empire and lived there for a while.
After that, he learnt the fact that there were lot more bad players scattered all over this world. Most of them ganged upon other players as a way to kill time and have fun. This was the reason why he turned meek when he suddenly met a max level player like Mays. It was hard to get rid of his trauma.
"That's all? Anything of note other than that?"
As Nej lost in his thought, Mays asked something just to bring him back to reality.
"Ah sorry. This is the most important information. If you want to go to Holy Cloud Empire, head for Gulam Kingdom. It was northwest from here. They have a Portal Gate connected to Holy Cloud Empire."
"Also, one last question. Do you by any chance knew someone named Sanortep?"
Mays asked just in case. His younger brother was someone important to him after all.
"Of course I know! He is also one of the person I respected. One of the general in The Alliance, the guild leader of MisfitSociety. I never met him in person though but three years ago he was in Holy Cloud Empire for sure."
"That's about everything I know. It's better if you go there yourself so you can get the details of it."
With that last line, Nej let out a relieved sigh as if he had done his job wonderfully. He tried his best to explain everything through. Prior to the information about other players, he even told Mays that the reason why all his spirits had heaven defying looks were due to their equipment.
Since Nej only gave low tier gear to his spirits, they had a normal decent look, totally different from those spirits under Mays's command.
Mays led all his spirits toward their lodging while Nej and his spirits walked the other way. Nej let out a relieved sigh since Mays was not a bad player. His main reason coming to this desolate area was to evade the never ending war at the central continent.
"Sorry to disappoint you master!"
Syaitona and the rest of the spirits kneeled after Nej left the scene.
"Eh? Why?"
Mays was caught off guard with the sudden turn of event.
"Even after one week, we couldn't even gather half the amount of information you just gotten from that man from earlier. We…"
"Enough! You guys did your best, nothing to apologize over. Let go."
Mays interjected. He didn't really care about it anymore since he already got the information he needed. These spirits did nothing wrong to begin with. They were just not that proficient in gathering information.
"Yes master!"
With smiles on their face, they immediately followed behind Mays as they walked out of that alleyway.
