After a while, we finally made it to the parade. It was quite loud and festive with music in every corner, and food stands all around. It was quite lovely I admit. So much laughter and dancing filled the air.
"Leslie, let's eat something from that pastry stand. What do you say?"
"Alright, I will have the one with strawberry jam then." I smiled.
"Hey, Mister! Give us one of the strawberry jam and another of the peach jam. A million thanks!"
"You have a good eye! These have been our most popular so far. That would be 10 shillings, Miss."
After paying we headed straight to the parade just in time. It was quite crowded, with confetti flying all around us, the sound of instruments, and people shouting the names of the soldiers walking by.
"Isn't this exciting!"
"Mary... why do you like human parades?"
"..." "They are different."
"Huh???"
"Even though they are humans, they have a sense of life to them that we don't." "They live like there is no tomorrow. Maybe it's due to their short lifespan, but I respect their determination to make the best of it. Plus they are fun that way."
"I see."
All of a sudden I am interrupted by the blaring of horns.
"Everybody make way and noise for our Captains that led us all to victory and freedom!"
I know it might be starting out somewhat slow but I hope you continue to give it a chance. Also, feel free to comment your thoughts. Thank you, dear readers:)
