Evan's eyes widened. It was the same boy that he had noticed earlier during the distribution process. The one who seemed to be his age but had this distinct look of loneliness in his eyes.
He watched, mesmerized, as the boy flexed his fingers a bit before expanding his entire hand. The transition was mesmerizing for Evan to watch, especially when the child's hand was bathed in that warm orange glow he was all too familiar with.
Soon enough, Evan couldn't stand it any longer. He was too excited to continue to stay subtle.
"It's you!" he exclaimed, causing the boy to jump up in surprise.
With wide eyes, the boy turned to him in alarm, his hand immediately returning to normal.
"P—Prince?!" the boy exclaimed in shock. "I mean… Your Highness, what are you doing in a place like this? You should be at the feast right now..."
"Me? What are you doing over here?" Evan asked conversationally as he plopped down beside the boy.
