I think he did that because he knew he can't win against him at all, I mean how many time he had already tried the scenario to take it forcefully, in ben 10 original he was like a arrogant self centered, but in alien force he got lot more intelligent and didn't look down upon ben and considered him a real threat tbh that he join hands with albedo to take it. (just me)
