Overall a 4.4/5, or 22/25. I like this quite a lot. Tl;dr review: A post Edgerunners storyline, a twist, and before the events of 2077. Writing Quality: 5/5 I would say this is pretty good, a story well written with little to no error in it. It’s hard to say how good ‘Writing Quality’ is because it’s hard to notice good quality but is extremely easy to notice bad quality. This time, quality is pretty good, no misspelling, no grammatical issues, and this is an original work, not a translation so extra points for it. Even if there isn’t much chapters (16 chapters as of the writing of this review), it’s packed full of words and full of a really good story. Updating Stability: 4/5 A bit unstable in *when* it’s updated but we always knows that it’s at least 1 per week and so far, it isn’t broken. Story Development: 4/5 (longest bit) So, the story is based off an AU, this is important. This story is perhaps a few months after the ending of Edgerunners or even after saving Lucy, where in this case, Pilar is the one that gets crushed, David is alive (Lucy is unknown), and Maine still went Cyberpsycho which killed Dorio in the process. Rebecca, is alive and well, missing his brother and sometimes slips up, thinking she’s still in Maine’s group. So, our MC is a nameless gonk in Night City, with no chrome, just another face in Night City, waiting for his dreams to get crushed. But, as any transmigratior, he too has a ‘goldfinger’, the Forge. Mainly, a ‘gacha’ based system that is typically more on developing crafting, resources, and assistance in such crafts. There is a real story in here, not just one event after another where progress is wiped after each event. They last, whether good or bad, it comes back to haunt you. Used special tech? Fixers and Powerful People are gonna have their eyes on you. Saved a bunch of people? You’re gonna hear about it and even see it. I can see where this might go(?), I do kinda like where it’s going if I’m thinking what you’re thinking. Character Design: 4/5 Like I said, this is the between of Edgerunners and 2077 stories, so you get to meet the cast, Rebecca, David, Jackie, Viktor. But the other cast the Author made is actually really good too, they feel real, alive, not just random NPCs just there ‘to be there’, every conversation has effort into it, which is so not Night City. The Gilded Cage, known as Night City, where corpos reap the literal souls of its residents. The Author could have been sloppy with the side characters and their conversations and count it to “Night City’s influence” and it would have been completely fair game in the Cyberpunk world. But he didn’t, he made characters that feel real. Speaking of real, let’s talk about the romance. This light budding romance between Rebecca and the MC is SO CUTE, it’s completely adorable and if anything happens to them I will end everyone and then myself. World Background: 5/5 As I mentioned, this is an AU. There is change to be expected within the story, but as far as I have seen there isn’t much change within the world. It’s still the Gilded Cage called Night City. So to wrap it up, I like it a lot. Like a lot, A LOT. It’s one of the better Cyberpunk stories out there. Here’s to the Author for cooking up something special.
