Yeah, I guess the show writers just wanted Rick to get on and out from Atlanta, and waiting the night would basically mean he wouldn't be able to follow Glenn to the others.

Nodding, I chucked the grenade over to Rick who caught it. I rushed over to the dead soldier on my hands and knees and began the process of quickly ripping off the vest he was wearing. Pulling it on after pulling it off, I began slipping clips for my M4A1 into the holders. All the while, I was speaking to Rick, telling him I'd give covering fire while he got the duffel bags out of the tank.

Oblivious, he continued, "Whenever I wasn't at training, I was usually out hanging with my friends and stuff. You know, normal stuff," he trailed off before looking up at me, "I know you said your memories are all weird and that you think you were a soldier but do you remember what else you used to do?"

Mid-twenties physically. In his thirties mentally.
He'll probably end up in a leadership role when he gets to the camp. God knows it needs a proper leader who isn't a part of the Lori-Shane-Rick love triangle lol.
It won't be a harem, I can assure you. The MC will most likely have a few casual relationships with women he meets and I'll see which one feels the most likely to develop into something more.

Saying 'All the time' is a bit of an exaggeration. Rick has had his own lines, MC has said original lines that I haven't ripped from the show or stolen from Rick and Rick's done plenty of stuff up till this point. Not the MC's fault that he's a quicker thinker, less indecisive and a more natural leader than Rick is.
Suddenly it hit me. The walkers hear and smell you. That's how they find you.
