Forgot to add this but, yes he isn't (fully) human. Based on some theories, it says that (Spoilers for the manga) he is a half curse since he was born from Kenjaku taking control over his mother body, since Kenjaku has experimented over choso and his brothers as cursed wombs, its very likely that Yuji was a half cursed womb when he was still in his mom's womb thus making him a half curse at birth. Hence why choso counts him as his brother and him having unnatural strength.
Technically speaking, he has the potential to be one. He does not control cursed energy however, it is naturally born from negative emotions. He just has the power to manipulate it like any other jujutsu sorcerer or curses.
He actually just thought they were some cursed spirits tricking him around while hiding their cursed energy. So he decided to play along with them just to get answers since he's pretty much lost with no memories of how he got there in the first place.
