if he has "over a million crystals" then he should have way more stored ki than just a million. unless each crystal only has 1 point of ki inside it, then he should have 1 million × (10,000 to 35,000) depending on how much ki he spends in a day before storing. and that's not even covering that he can just rest and recover ki before storing it again.
But Goku wasn't just focusing on his physical and combat abilities. He had been diligently creating energy crystals every day, storing them away for a time when he would need to make an important upgrade. Over the month, his collection had grown to over a million crystals, and he knew exactly how he wanted to use them.

I get that his fruit is the monkey king, and every monkey king fanfic needs the stupid staff (even if they have the strength or potential to honestly REALLY not need it). but come on, even Goku, another ripoff, got rid of the staff because he didn't need it. TLDR: I think the staff is goofy. Let him wield a huge log of Adam tree if you really want a staff
