I know that 10 chapters aren’t really a lot to judge something, yet I feel in need to compliment myself with the author because I feel like this could become a great gem. The writing is good in both semantic and syntax, as well as the dialogues, which allow for an enjoyable read (it’s not yet perfect, but you can feel it getting better despite the few chapters); the story is building toward a direction with a, for now subtle, focus upon the growth of the mc as a person, and a more direct description of the side characters; moreover the whole thing feels lighthearted (which is great) yet doesn’t feel neither too shallow, nor too deep. I do feel that if the author could make some side stories centering around the life of the side characters, they would feel more real, but I already felt that there was an improvement between the first and second disciple, so I look forward to more improvements. The relationship between master and disciple are very well done, as well as the whole setting that is just incredibly well executed. I also personally think that the chronology is hard to follow, in the sense that I don’t really know when something is happening (I would put the year of the mc’s age when something of significance happens). Then the whole cultivation/martial arts part is a bit non explained, so we don’t really know what cultivation is, how it works, what it gives, what it needs, the stages, etc… from my understanding of the story, it’s not really a central part (at least for now obviously), but it just feels like it’s thrown sometimes in the mix and left there to wither away until it gets picked up again to be thrown somewhere else, which is a pity, because a nice, fleshed out cultivation system is always welcome in this type of novel. Well, the world’s geography also needs some work because I got no idea where things are happening. And last but not least, I don’t know if there is already something on the mind of the author, but I would advise for a main storyline with the mc at the center (that follows obviously the themes of the story so: light, comedic, etc…), because most of this type of novels with a master mc, lack that, and they just have him be op without equals killing people, that their disciples can’t, left and right, which, to me at least, gets boring after rinse and repeat for 400 chapters. Overall though, it’s a fun, light read, and I hope that the author will keep it up because he’s doing a very good job! 👍
