As Theo struggles to find a way to leave Voxsturm, and Lorelei recovers from her previous trauma's, the world around them seems to change. The winds of magic have grown worse with each passing year, and whispers of an old power, the sages, continue to spread. This is a world where science and magic both exist, and terrible storms confine much of humanity into cramped cities where magical barriers could be raised. While the first chapter includes a younger Theo and Lorelei, all characters following that chapter are 18 years, or older.
