I could see my skin turning dark and reptile-like, my nails growing a tiny bit longer/sharper. I felt as though I was turning into a humanoid crocodile, only not as menacing as Killer Croc well depending on the iteration I suppose.

Sigmund didn't freeze him and simply chopped off his head from behind when he was trying to take damage from Unohana , after which Sigmund ate him. Ishida wanted to take damage, so he didn't even defend himself.
