As human nature is greed. My gut feel is telling me that his uncle was the main culprit of what happened to her family. For the throne and power. As mentioned at the previous chapters the tradition has always passed on the throne to the king's closest male relative. And the closest was his uncle.

One thing I hate about human nature is when they started to be greedy. I can't blame ember for longing for love as she grew up technically isolated from everything. But to demand love from someone she just met or should I say someone who was forced to saved her that's a bit ridiculous. Well, I didn't say for her to just spread her legs but their situation is different along with the consequences. So, she only need is to just take one step at a time and to refrain making things complicated by overthinking.
