I think he is using his earth bending to feel garas mother’s presence but got pulled to the one tails in garas mindscape instead because he is using his his connection to the earth as a medium to the one tails sand which most like hold bother garas mothers feeling (in tangible form) and one tails chakra consence. As for his other past life self, my guess is when he transmigrated, he combined his soul with the other persons he took over after that person died which resulted in one body, 2 consences as you remember he got memories on the previous owner of the body attached the beginning which might not be possible unless one of 2 things happen. 1. God does the work for him and implants the memory in him. 2 . Soul combine/takeover happened. Option 2 is my opinion. As a result, you see his past life soul and his current life soul both being dragged to the mindscape of gara where the one tails is at.

I see where the auther is going with this. By faking at despeate situation with the soul hall, he can stay by tang san and go with him to shreak academy together and as we all know, his next sign-in location is shreak academy. My thoughts are if he stayed with the soul hall, he would have to goto the soul hall special academy like stated in the few previous chapters and wont be able to goto shreak for the sign-in.
