no.... they wouldn't. your view of magic is so limited that it's not even funny. easiest example I can think of that would sweep the floor with ALL levels of swordsman is conditional or triggered spells.... you could have a limitless number of spells cast on your person that when x happens do y. magic is always superior to swordsman if you actually dive into the waters instead of swimming at the shallow shoreline.
However, there was a critical flaw: when it came to combat strength, even a God-Class Magician could struggle against a Sword King.

the age of adulthood in medieval settings is 15 for humans..... for others with similar lifespan, it's the about the same.... for elves, they aren't considered adults until over 100, which isn't due to their physical maturity, cause they tend to mature physically at least 20-30 years before that, it's due to mental maturity.

the clarifying is great because I don't remember anything beyond hand waving in the original work. also, hitogami is supposed to be omnipotent afaik, so he should've been able to see rudeus through his parents at the very least, and besides.... his foresight is supposed to be able to see all timeliness iirc so if it happens ever, he is supposed to know about it. my running hypothesis is that he did know about Rudy and tried subtle ways to kill him off early. the mana event could've killed him and him being kicked out at 5 or 6 could've killed him.
