I agree to a certain degree. that being how many comfortably fit together every night. (aka one on left one on right) any more and it's harder to get direct contact with your "primary lover " as such once you have 3+ partners it should be allowed for them to sleep together.(2 in one bed 2 in other, also good for 1 on 1 time) as most would be used to cuddling at night, so demanding that they sleep alone seams cruel.

I've always viewed the probably of large differences in Male/female ratios to be a given. in both a semi apocalyptic world and ceaseless a war (given the male propensity to get themselves killed in conflict). so I always thought that something along the lines of 1/2 of all Males enroll in huntsman's academy's but only 1/5 of the female population join. even with these ratios females still slightly outnumber males at the schools. I always viewed this as a possible and viable way to explain polygamy in this world. as well as making "donations" common practice.
