Bab 51: Chapter 51: Departure

The morning sun rose above the sky of the kingdom of Satirica. Inside the guild hall of the kingdom, Killian was currently standing at the clerk desk. Standing with him was Finel.

"You really are leaving now, huh?" Finel said, looking at the paper Killian is currently filling up.

"Yeah. As much as I want to stay and live an enjoyable life here, I can't," Killian replied, holding a quill pen in his hand and answering the transfer form.

"And you don't want to tell me when you will go back?" Finel asked, pouting her lips.

Killian paused, looking at the wooden wall. "It's because even I don't know when."

"I will miss you, though," Finel said, her cheeks turning red.

"Do you think I won't miss you as well?" Killian replied.

After Killian was done filling out the form, he faced Catherine, who was currently sitting on the desk, just silently watching them.

"Miss Catherine, this is my transfer form," Killian said as he handed the paper to Catherine.

"All it needs is my signature, and you are good to go," Catherine said as she wrote her signature, but stopped upon noticing something. "Hmm. You didn't fill up where you are transferring."

"Yes. As far as I know, it is optional," Killian answered.

"It makes me wonder where you are going next." Catherine smiled meaningfully and completed her signature. She put a stomp. "This is an open transfer form; it means you can use it everywhere. However, due to it being open, you need to pay a certain amount to the guild you transferred to."

"I can handle that," Killian said.

"That's good. By the way, in case you returned, I am no longer the one sitting in here," Catherine said.

Killian tilted his head. "You are leaving?"

Catherine nodded. "Yes. I decided to live in a small town with my husband. And so happened that town has a guild that is looking for desk personnel." She pressed her glasses. "It turns out, if you talk something out properly, you will get both good ends of it.

Killian smiled. "That's good to hear. I am happy for you."

Catherine gave Killian the paper, and Killian walked towards the exit of the guild hall. As Killian and Finel walked out, his eyes immediately darted to the young lady standing at the side of the road.

Ilya's cat ears twitched upon seeing Killian.

Killian approached her. "Yo."

Ilya smiled, and she looked down. "I just came to see you leave. But it's not that I want to say a final goodbye—in case you decide to never come back again."

Killian raised his hand and gently patted Ilya's head. "I am glad you came."

Ilya raised her head. "Where are you heading?"

"Somewhere far... Who knows, wherever my feet and wings bring me." Killian said. It did sound metaphorical, but he meant it literally.

"Doing what?" Ilya stopped her words and smiled meaningfully. "Saving the world?"

Killian chuckled. "Yeah. Saving the world."

"Don't worry about us; I'll be taking care of Ilya," Finel said as she hugged Ilya.

"I just hope it's not the opposite," Ilya said, narrowing her eyes.

"Eh! Don't say it like that." Finel's hug on Ilya became tighter but still gentle.

Ilya, on the other hand, just let her.

"I am glad to see that the both of you are getting along really well," Killian said as he watched the display of affection between the two.

Killian patted both of their heads as his final gesture.

"Who could have thought that Killian would be the bridge of a great friendship forming between us?" Finel said to Ilya, her eyes filled with happiness.

"I mean, you two perfectly compliment each other," Killian said. "Anyway, I am going now."

Both Finel and Ilya waved their hands at him, their eyes filled with happiness and showing smiles on their faces. Killian looked at them without any concern in his eyes.

"At least I know that both of them will never be lonely without me. They have each other's company," Killian said as he walked away, heading in a certain direction.

Killian walked towards the central park of the kingdom, where the statues of the hero party were located. He put a bouquet of flowers at the foot of the platform. What could be seen was the image of the members of the warriors who fought for peace in the world of Zecs.

A gentle smile emerged from his lips as his eyes darted to the person in the middle of the group—the hero Hikari—raising her sword like a beacon of hope.

And upon seeing the smile of the statue, a certain memory flashed before his eyes...

The next day after the Incubus demon was rescued by the hero's party.

"I have decided that he will be joining our party," Hikari announced with a smug on her face, her hands on her hips, and her chest sticking out to show confidence.

"What? That man only spells trouble! To be honest, he doesn't look like he could be trusted." Mikaela objected.

"Says the one laughing like a maniacal monkey while beating the innocent guards into pulp yesterday," Casimir—Killian, or Zero's old name—said. He was clean after taking a bath in a river. "And also, I don't remember agreeing. You have my gratitude for saving my life, but I'll go on my way now."

"Now, now, Casimir." Hikari put her hand on Casimir's shoulder. "Just like I said, I have decided, so it means I decided for you."

"That sounds sketchy." Casimir removed her hand from his shoulder. "And also—don't just touch me, are you stupid? Do you know what happened to the last woman who touched me? She's probably rubbing herself using a home-made stick right now—that's how dangerous I am to have physical contact with."

Hikari just tilted her head. "It doesn't affect me, though."

Casimir furrowed his eyebrows at her reply.

"Hikari, not that I object... But may I ask what did you see in him that you concluded that he is fit for the hero's party?" Abigail asked as she approached.

"Are you kidding me? He is OP! I saw him using powerful skills like a master! With his capabilities, he can be a great addition to our party." Hikari nodded on her own words. "And also, he is extremely handsome—just look at that face. He is the very embodiment of Ikemen."

"What's an ikemen?" Casimir asked out of confusion.

"My goodness," Mikaela said, shaking her head. "I just hope Aygibhed is not some kind of handsome demon lord, or this world is doomed."

Both Abigail and Gwen laughed while watching them.

"And if he is, then I am more eager to face him. Let's go!" Hikari announced, walking with joy in her eyes.

"I think... There's something wrong with the hero's sense of logic," Casimir commented, narrowing his eyes. He looked at his shoulder, where Hikari touched him. "She's... Immune."
