Bab 81: Threads of Fate

The cool night air outside the Spirit Realm portal felt like a stark contrast to the oppressive atmosphere they had just escaped. Heizen rubbed his temples, still trying to wrap his mind around what had happened inside. The creature's fiery red eyes, filled with malice that seemed ancient and deep, lingered in his thoughts. It had come for the Soulstone, and it wasn't going to stop until it had it.

Luna sat beside him, her back against the stone wall of the cave they had taken refuge in. Her face was pale, but her expression was resolute. The fire they had started crackled between them, casting dancing shadows on the cavern walls. She poked at the flames with a stick, her brow furrowed in thought.

"We need answers, Heizen," she said quietly, breaking the silence. "We can't just keep running. That thing will find us again, and next time we might not be so lucky."
