Bab 52: Looming Ahead

"What happened?" I sighed in annoyance.

"You know that's the nth time today," The sarcasm in my voice was something you can't deny. Sally pouted at me. After my stunt yesterday, almost all of the pack that I met today were inquiring about my well-being, which is nice, mind you. It was nice when it's in moderation, it's another story when it's excessive.

"I know, but you haven't answered me," she bit into her apple pie with mayo on top. 

"I did. I told you I was deadbeat yesterday," That was the answer I've come up yesterday. Sally gave me one of her rare looks. It was uncomfortable, but maybe she saw the stubbornness in my eyes and didn't ask further.

Sally sighed this time, "You're hiding a lot from me these weeks. Don't think I didn't notice," she gave that pointed look again. I was close to wincing but held it in.
