Bab 170: 169. Vainglorious

The large room that usually welcomed members of the traditional pack during common meals had been turned into a meeting room to accommodate all the leaders of the country.

This meeting was an event more than exceptional. More than thirty alphas had made the trip to answer the invitation of Bloodhood's leader. Acher Rivers looked around the room.

The beta who was in his werewolf form had his arms crossed over his chest and a serious look on his face. He watched the guests, trying to predict the outcome of this meeting based on who had agreed to come.

There were familiar faces, lifelong allies, cunning ones looking for the slightest weakness to harm their pack, and observers who always ended up siding with those who would bring them some advantage. The latter were the ones he had to keep an eye on.

An enemy and a trickster were easy to deal with as the only factor was how long it would take them to land a claw swipe on their backs.
