Bab 19: Chapter 0018: Finalizing Marriage Matters

"Grandmother," Joseph Thompson gently shook Sophia Wilson's hand, whispering in her ear, "I told you, I've already found someone else to marry. If you keep being picky, don't blame me for not getting married and not having a great-grandson to hold."

Sophia Wilson understood immediately that her grandson was determined to marry this Jaylene Ziel girl.

Well, since her grandson didn't care, what was the point of her, a grandmother, caring?

As long as he could just get married and give her a chubby great-grandchild, she wouldn't bother about other things, right?

Thus, Sophia Wilson immediately put a smile on her face and said to Randy Ziel and Nancy Scott, "A boyfriend of five years dumped Jaylene? That can only prove that he has no taste. Jaylene is such a good girl, with both style and beauty. He must be blind to leave her. It's better to break up sooner."

Randy Ziel and Nancy Scott did not expect Old Madam Thompson to be so open-minded and generous, and her words hit home, not belittling Jaylene at all.

Thanks to Old Madam Thompson's tolerance, the atmosphere in the private suite was harmonious. Joseph Thompson helped his future parents-in-law with their dishes and soup from time to time, and the five of them had a great time together.

Old Madam Thompson was very talkative, and hearing that Nancy was a kindergarten principal, they immediately discussed the topic of children's education, which impressed Nancy and Randy.

Unknowingly, the meal was finished, and Joseph's father had not arrived yet. As Randy wondered about this, Joseph's mobile phone rang.

"It's my dad's call. He must be downstairs now,"

As Joseph spoke, he got up and walked towards the doorway, pressing the answer key.

"What? You had a car accident? You're waiting for the traffic police? A three-car pile-up? When can you come over? Still don't know? How did it happen?"

Joseph Thompson hung up the phone, walked in, and said to Randy Ziel and Nancy Scott with an apologetic face, "Dad, Mum, my dad just called. He had a car accident on the road, a three-car pile-up. He's waiting for the traffic police to handle it now, so he might not be able to make it for a while."

Upon hearing the news of the traffic accident, Randy immediately said, "Never mind, let your dad deal with the traffic accident first. There will be other chances to meet. It's okay as long as your family has no objection to Jaylene."

"Definitely no objection," Sophia Wilson chimed in, "Jaylene is so beautiful and talented. I love her at first sight. What can Joseph's dad have against her? Now, let's discuss the children's marriage, shall we?"

"Is it too soon...?" Randy looked at Jaylene and Joseph before saying to Sophia, "They haven't known each other for long. Why don't we let them date for a while first?"

"Hey, what's the matter with getting married whether they know each other for long or not?" Sophia rushed to say, "Besides, Jaylene has agreed to marry Joseph, right? Moreover, marriage is something you should do when the feelings are strongest. Once time passes and feelings fade, they may lose interest in getting married, right?"

This point hit home for Randy and Nancy, reminding them of Alexander Preston and Jaylene's years-long relationship that ended in a breakup. They suddenly thought that getting married sooner might indeed be a good thing.

So, it was settled like that. Sophia Wilson wanted to have a wedding, but Randy and Nancy Scott said they were both working and busy, so they probably wouldn't have time to help them prepare for the wedding.

Then, Joseph said, "In that case, Jaylene and I will get our Marriage Certificate first. We'll postpone the wedding until my parents have time off at the end of the year, and then Jaylene and I will have our wedding."

"Sure, sure. Nowadays people like destination weddings, so why don't you two have a destination wedding first? As for the wedding, we'll plan it well later and make sure it's a grand event."

Watching her parents and Joseph's grandmother enthusiastically discussing her marriage, Jaylene sat there in pain. She wasn't interested in getting married at all, especially to a man she had a one-night stand with.

But now, things had gone beyond her control, and her marriage to Joseph was inevitable!

He really was a man of his word; he insisted she take responsibility!

After discussing their own matters, the two families walked out of the restaurant with smiles on their faces. The Thompson family chauffeur had already brought the car to the doorway to wait for the Old Madam.

Old Madam Thompson left first, and Randy Ziel's family of three waited by the doorway for Joseph to drive up from the underground parking. At this moment, a noblewoman with a Poodle in her arms walked out of the "Golden Pavilion" gate.

"Could you please make some room?" The noblewoman's voice sounded a bit irritated, "With the three of you standing side by side, how is anyone supposed to pass?"

Jaylene and Nancy quickly stepped aside, and when Randy turned his head and locked eyes with the noblewoman, his face went cold.

The noblewoman also looked stunned to see Randy, as she involuntarily took a step back, staring at him with wide eyes. It took her a while before she said, "You are...Randy Ziel?"

Randy calmed down quickly after a moment of shock, turning his face away and pretending not to see the noblewoman, completely ignoring her presence.

Joseph's car came just in time, and Jaylene led her parents over, first helping them open the back door of the car, and only got into the passenger seat after they were seated.

Jaylene was busy taking care of her parents and didn't notice that the noblewoman with the Poodle in her arms was still staring at her, her face growing paler.

Joseph drove the car smoothly, Jaylene sat in the passenger seat, and the cool air came from the air-conditioned car. The conversation between Randy and Nancy drifted from the back seat.

"Randy, do you know that noblewoman just now?"

Actually, Nancy's question was somewhat redundant, because the noblewoman had clearly called Randy by name, and his expression had also indicated that she was an old acquaintance.

"I don't know her!" Randy answered flatly, then closed his eyes and pretended to sleep, clearly not wanting to discuss the topic further.

Nancy's lips twitched, she wanted to ask if he didn't know her, why was he so uneasy?

But with their daughter and future son-in-law sitting in front, she didn't ask more. How embarrassing would it be to bring up such a topic in front of her daughter and son-in-law?

"What noblewoman?" Joseph asked, glancing at Jaylene.

"The woman holding a dog at the doorway when we were waiting for you," Jaylene explained casually, "I guess she must have mistaken him for someone else."

"Oh."
