"Jade." Wu's voice, soft and gentle, broke through her reverie. "You're quiet tonight. Is something troubling you?"
Jade turned to face him, a faint smile gracing her lips. "Just thinking, brother. It's a quiet night, and the fire seems to be whispering secrets."
Wu chuckled, his eyes twinkling. "Perhaps it's reminding you of the past, of all the lives you've lived."
Jade nodded, her smile fading. "It's a strange feeling, brother. To remember so much, and yet feel so little. I'm like a ghost, a shadow in the world, watching everything unfold without truly being a part of it."
Wu placed a hand on her shoulder, his touch warm and comforting. "You are not a ghost, Jade. You are a part of this world, just as much as any of us. You have chosen to walk the path of the shadows, but that does not mean you are not a part of the light. You have chosen to use your power to help others, to protect the innocent, and that is a noble and selfless act."
Jade sighed, a deep and melancholic sigh that echoed the sorrow she carried within her. "I know, brother. But sometimes I feel like I'm missing out, like I'm not truly living. I watch the ninja, my brother's students, go out into the world and face their fears, and I want to be there with them, to fight alongside them, but I can't. My power is too great, too dangerous. It would only put them in more danger."
Later that night, the boy hiding in the shadows watched as the three others snuck inside to attack Kai. This lasted for a minute straight as they fought outside, turning on the dojo equipment. They landed in a dog pile where Wu stopped them.
"Stop!" Wu yelled as the three got off Kai and bowed.
"Yes, Sensei." the trio responded.
"Wait a minute, they're your students too?" Kai asked, to which Wu nodded.
"This was my final test, wasn't it–"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! You never said anything about a fourth. It's always three. Three blind mice. Three musketeers. Three–"
"Uh, what he's trying to say, Sensei Wu, is that the three of us have trained together. We're solid." Cole said.
"Didn't look so solid to me." Kai said.
"Master, what is the meaning of this?" Zane asked.
"Each of you has been chosen, each in tune with elemental properties. But first, ninja! Go!" Wu yelled as he used his spinjitzu to change each of their outfits, and gave them a weapon each.
"Woah!" Kai yelled, surprised.
"How'd he do that?!" Cole yelled.
"Woah! Look what color I am!" Jay yelled enthusiastically.
"Wait a minute, I'm still black." Cole said, walking up a little.
Wu started to don each of them.
"Kai, master of fire. It burns bright in you. Jay is the blue master of lightning." Wu said.
"Heh, that's not all–"
"Oh no," the boy mumbled, knowing Jay was about to ramble again. "That's not the only thing I'm a master of. I do a little inventing, dabble in model building, touch on cooking, and write a little poetry."
Cole sighed.
"More like 'Mouth of Lightning." Cole said as Wu donned him.
"Black ninja is Cole, solid as a rock, master of earth." Wu said as Cole greeted Kai.
"Nice to meet you, kid. I got your back, and for the record, there ain't nothing in this world I'm afraid of." Cole said as Zane spoke up.
"Except for dragons." Zane pointed out, which annoyed Cole.
"Dragons aren't from this world, Zane. I said in this world." Cole said, annoyed.
"And white ninja is Zane, master of ice and seer with a sixth sense." Wu continued as Zane utilized his shurikens before making them vanish.
"I sense this one takes things a little too seriously." Kai said as Zane looked at him.
"You too have the gift?" Zane asked as Jay laughed.
"He's just making a joke, Zane. Remember what we talked about? Your sense of humor? Huh?" Jay asked as Zane nodded.
"Yes, it was a joke, haha." Zane laughed as Jay shook his head in disappointment.
"Pay attention! You five are the chosen ones who will protect the four weapons of Spinjitzu from Lord Garmadon." Wu said.
"But what about my sister!?" Kai yelled as Jay gasped excitedly.
"We're saving a girl? Is she hot?" Jay asked.
"Jay..."
"I just want to know what we're getting ourselves into. Does she like blue?" Jay asked as Kai threatened him.
"Back off!" Kai yelled.
"When we find the weapons, we will find your sister. It is time! We must go to the first weapon!" Wu spoke as Cole interrupted.
"Uh, you said five of us, but there's only four here." Cole said, confused, as Wu nodded.
"Yes, it is time for you to now introduce yourself," Wu said as a ninja in purple robes jumped down from the rooftop.
"Another one!? Oh, come on!" Jay yelled as Cole elbowed him.
"This will be your second Sensei, my older sister. Despite how she looks, she is older than me. Meet Jade, the purple ninja," Wu said as Jade walked up and took her mask off, with the others doing the same.
"And I'm the Master of Blood, Poison, and–" Wu cut off Jade before she could finish, as the others looked in shock.
The four-colored ninjas looked at the purple ninja in fear as they heard about her power. No one spoke until Cole walked up.
"Hey we met before right?" Cole offered his hand, which Jade took with a smile.
Zane also walked up and offered his hand.
"Hello I'm Zane," he said as Jade accepted the handshake.
"Pleasure to meet you all at last," Jade said with a smile, but it became a smirk as the other two ninjas didn't approach.
"Um, I'm sorry, but are we forgetting that she have two powers? Which are BLOOD AND POISON?!" Jay yelled as Kai looked at Wu.
"Sensei? Are you sure we should bring her? She could be trouble–"
"Silence! You five will work together to retrieve the four weapons of Spinjitzu!" Wu boomed at the duo.
"And it seems that two of you have already accepted someone who is different," Wu smiled at the two boys next to his sister.
"What? Are you boys scared of a girl over shadowing you?" Jade smirks
"Wha-I am not scared-" Jay and Kai started talking but everyone just ignores them.
"Now it's time for the first weapon; we shall travel by horse carriage." Wu said, walking inside.
"Do we have a horse carriage?" Jay asked, while the three shrugged.
"Well, if it means finding my sister, then sign me up." Kai said.
As the next day rolled around, the four ninjas pulled the horse carriage, which Wu sat on as they traveled to the Caves of Despair.
"'Sign me up'—way to go, spark plug," Jay mocked Kai.
"I sense this is some strange form of team building," Zane said as they continued to pull the horse carriage.
"So, where did Sensei find you four?" Kai asked.
"Well, let's just say if it wasn't for Sensei Wu, I don't think we'd be seen together. I was testing my limits." Cole said.
"I was testing my invention." Jay added.
"And I was testing myself." Zane spoke as they continued to run.
"Shh... stop!" Wu said suddenly as the five stopped the carriage.
"The caves of despair; Samukai must be close to unearthing the Scythe of Quakes. Remember, do not use the weapons for their power—"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah! It's too much for us mortals. Alright, you guys, let's chop-socky this lemonade stand! Cole, you got the plan?" Jay asked.
"Sure do. First, we lower ourselves down the ledge and then—where's Kai?" Cole asked, noticing the red one disappear.
"Found the idiot." Jade pointed down as the three saw Kai on ground level.
"Let's go!" Jay sighed as the three ninjas ran off in the direction of Kai while Jade watch them. Kai got spotted by a Skulkin warrior, and the three quickly and quietly took him out to avoid revealing themselves.
"The map!" Kai whispered as he noticed the map.
At the conveyor belt, the skeletons are collecting rocks, and underneath, the ninja rode the conveyor belt unnoticed.
"Oh, oh, oh, I found something!" Nuckal yelled as he grabbed a donut-shaped rock.
"That's another rock, you bonehead!" Kruncha spoke, annoyed.
"But it's shaped like a doughnut! I wonder what it tastes like," Nuckal said as he bit into the rock, where he shrieked in agony. Kruncha shook his head in disappointment.
Meanwhile, Kai advanced closer to the map while his teammates arrived shortly after, eventually reaching him.
"What's the matter with you?" Jay asked after slapping him on the back of the head.
"Shh." Kai shushed as they noticed the map. Samukai looked at the map and laughed before leaving.
"It's upside down; they're digging at the wrong spot." Jay said.
"The golden weapon is near." Zane said as he got the map with his shuriken.
Kai and Jade studied the map.
"There's no time to waste." Kai said as he rushed off again.
"Seriously?" Jade asked as she watched Kai run off again.
"What's with that guy? Always in a rush." Jay groaned.
"He must really want to save his sister," Jade said as she watched the three take off again, seeing Kai trying to push a boulder out of the way.
"Hey! Before you race off again, you need to remember that we're a team." Cole said.
"Yeah, whatever." Kai said as Jade groaned.
"This is going to be a long day." Jade mumbled.
The four ninjas pushed the boulder out of the way and walked in; inside, they saw the Scythe of Quakes.
"Wow! That is so cool!" Jay yelled as his voice echoed.
Jade appears behind Jay and covered his mouth.
"Keep it down; you're going to get yourselves caught." Jade whispered as Jay shoved her hand off.
"Come on, don't be paranoid; we're totally on the opposite side of the caves." Jay said, pushing Jade out of the way.
"Kids, they never listen." Jade sighed and shook her head.
Cole walked up to them with the golden weapon.
"Zip it, okay? Now that we have the scythe, let's sneak out while those boneheads are still busy," Cole said as he tossed the scythe to Kai.
As they left, the dragon head slowly opened.
"Alright, team. Everyone stick together. The way out is right around the corner," Cole said as he came face to face with Samukai.
"Great job, Idiot 2," Jade remarked sarcastically as Jay sent her a glare.
The four got into battle positions as they fought the Skulkin.
Jay hit the skeletons with his nunchucks.
"Two points!" Jay yelled.
"Kai, throw it here!" Zane yelled as Kai threw the weapon to him.
"Going long!" Cole yelled as Zane threw the scythe to him.
"There's too many of them!" Kai yelled as Jade knocked down four Skulkin easily.
"Yeah, you guys wouldn't have to worry about this if a certain someone kept quiet." Jade said towards Jay, who glared.
"Let me fix this mess then!" Jay yelled as he began fighting the Skulkin, where he noticed the Skulkin were like the training course back at the monastery.
"Hey guys! It's like the training course! Over the planks! Dodge the swords! Here comes the dummy! Cha-Ching!" Jay yelled, performing Spinjitzu.
"Spinjitzu!? Jay! What's the key?!" Kai yelled, surprised.
"I'm just going through the motions! This is what Sensei must have meant when he said we already know it," Jay said as Kai looked at the Skulkin.
"Over the planks! Dodge the swords! Here comes the dummy!" Kai yelled as he created a red Spinjitzu.
"He just called you a dummy." Kruncha laughed.
"No, he called you a dummy." Nuckal said. Before they could argue, the two generals retreated as Zane came towards them.
"I sense you do not stand a chance," Zane said as he stopped doing Spinjitzu.
"Retreat!" Samukai yelled as he knew they had lost, but before he could leave, he noticed that there were five ninjas, making him hum in confusion before leaving.
"Huh! I guess they didn't want a second serving of these babies." Cole said as he kissed his biceps.
Kai and Jay looked in disappointment while Jade facepalmed.
"Why did I come with them again? Oh right to make sure they don't mess up and die." Jade thought while looking over at the four ninja.
"Good thing they didn't check out the merchandise on the back!" Cole turned around and was shocked to see a dragon.
"Alright!" Kai cheered.
"Whoo hoo hoo!" Jay cheered.
"Uh, guys?" Cole spoke in fear.
"Hey, Zane, didn't Wu say something about a dragon guardian?" Jade asked as the four turned around and saw a dragon.
"Is that a... that's not what I think it is, is it?" Cole asked.
"You mean a dragon?" Jay asked as they slowly backed up.
"Uh, that sure looks like a dragon!" Kai yelled.
"I sense we won't be able to spin our way out of this one." Zane responded calmly.
"I like dragons." Jade says calmly.
The earth dragon spits out sand as the ninja ducks for cover.
"I thought dragons weren't from this world!" Cole yelled as Kai uncovered the scythe.
"No! No! Kai! Bad idea! Sensei told us not to!" Jay yelled.
"Then you better keep your mouth shut!" Kai yelled as he charged towards the earth dragon.
"Kai, doooont!" Cole yelled as Kai slammed the scythe into the ground, causing the earth dragon to collapse, and the cave to cave in as well.
"We gotta escape!" Kai yelled.
"We'll use spinjitzu!" Cole yelled.
The earth dragon followed the ninja but was too slow to catch them.
"That was so awesome!" Cole yelled.
"Yes, we're unbelievable!" Kai cheered.
"We are the best!" Zane cheered.
"Did you see that!? I was like 'pow' and you were like 'bam'!"
"Enough!" Wu yelled, infuriated, as the ninja stood still.
"I told you not to use the scythe!" Wu yelled.
"He did it!" Jay pointed at Kai.
"What?" Kai asked, surprised.
"I warned him, Sensei." Cole said.
"He did." Jade said.
"Using it was my only option." Kai said, defending himself.
"And what makes you think you're more important than the team, huh?! Huh?!" Wu asked.
"They took my sister, remember?!" Kai yelled.
"There are three weapons left, maybe next time you can do it right." Wu said as the four left Kai to his thoughts. He quickly followed behind.
In the underworld, Samukai begs for forgiveness from Garmadon.
"Master, I have failed you. They have learned Spinjitzu, and they have the scythe." Samukai said.
"Good, then my brother was there." Garmadon said, much to Samukai's surprise.
"If I can gather my army, then we can easily ambush them and—"
"No, let them think they're winning." Garmadon said.
"But I... do not understand." Samukai said, confused.
"Everything is going to plan." Garmadon said as he began laughing, while Samukai complied.
Before Samukai left, he looked at Garmadon.
"There is one more thing." Samukai said.
"Speak." Garmadon responded.
"Wu has another one, a purple one," Samukai said, much to Garmadon's surprise.
"Ah, so she has returned. Excellent." Garmadon said as Samukai looked confused.
"What's special about her? The other four I understand, but the purple one..."
"It is not our concern for now, we will focus on the weapons of Spinjitzu." Garmadon said as Samukai left, and Garmadon began laughing.
