Bab 171: Black Oblivion Prison

Myorka seemed melancholy for some reason. Serenica could have asked, but she was a bit scared of the bookkeeper's reaction.

"Ask ahead," the woman sighed. "I can tell that you are feeling uneasy."

"I was wondering if you are all right," Serenica said slowly. "If there is anything I can do…"

"There is nothing you can do. I was just thinking about what will happen to our son if Spade dies."

"He's been good lately, though," the healer said. "He is doing his best."

"His best will not necessarily be enough."

"Is that what has been on your mind?"

"You know who will be the replacement for him if things go awry?" the bookkeeper suddenly asked. "You remember that conversation?"

Serenica admitted that the thought felt absurd.

"It's Deim," Myorka blurted out. "If I ever were to trust myself and my child in the care of another man…it would be him. But it all seems so distant, you know?"
