Bab 88: He Would Do The Same For Me

Steve looked at Alex like he was some sort of interesting new species of insect. He began asking a series of questions such as name, age, where he was raised, who his family members were, etc. He answered flatly and in as few words as possible.

Claire felt her insides twisting into a knot as she listened to them. The Alex she knew really was gone. There had to be a way to get him back though, right? She couldn't bear to think otherwise.

"Who do you work for?" Steve asked.

"The Agency."

"What is your job?"

"To do whatever is required of me from the Agency."

"Who is this?"

Claire was startled when Steve suddenly pointed to her. What was he doing?! Her hold on Alex was already tenuous at best!

He seemed to struggle with the answer for the first time. Something spasmed across his face and he looked like he was in pain.

"Claire…Conway."

"Who is Claire Conway to you?" Steve pressed.
